Recently (it might have started after getting my ignition replaced a few months back) my alarm stopped going off when a door was opened (so come on over to my house[8D] with your lock picks.)
The alarm still goes off if a door is opened with a key, or if you open the bonnet, but if I leave a window down, reach in and open the door - nada.
Any suggestions on where to look? FWIW, when you open the door the dome light comes on, so if that switch is related then it seems like it should work?!
When I activate the alarm, the red LED on the console and radio are blinking, so Im puzzled.
I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it (resetting the system) but still no justice.
I would try to reprogram your remote key to the car. I forgot the sequence....maybe someone else can chime in.
Thanks - I tried that after reconnecting the battery - (point the fob at the mirror and press it twice, then turn the key to the #2 position.)
The alarm works (it goes off when it should with the very major exception that if you open a door without the key - ie reach into an open window and open the handle - it does nothing.) Open a door with the key - not the remote - and it goes off -
Following on from my problem, when I turn off the ignition (now) I notice that the red LED on the stereo begins to blink straight away- before I activate the alarm (the tow LED on the console doesn't until the alarm is on) - is this normal? Thanks in advance,m
