FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist)

Hello everyone,
Did anybody ever thought of starting up a small Excel or Word doc with a small (or extended Datebase of partnumbers for the G-class, that are asked regularly on this forum together with an idea of the price as it is found on the MB site. Call it a FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist).

I think it might be usefull for new members as myself (searching and finding partnumbers can be a hell of a job, some (MB)people see it as there duty to keep them a secret as possible to avoid competition) or for even experienced G-drivers.

Eg:
What: Molding for front windows
Partnumber: A463 698 01 30 (L)
A463 698 02 30 (R)
Price: 108€ (+- $125)/piece
Fits W460: Y/N/MA (mentioning if it will or not fit for a W460, or with minor adaptations)
Or from MY: 19XX-20XX

Or the white indicator/Turn signal glasses, clearglass headlights, red/white rear lights,…

I have an EPC Compact for the W463 and when I find a partnumber I tend to write it down on separate list because sometimes it is hard to find it again in all those subcategories.

A more elaborated version can be found for the A-class:
http://www.elchfans.de/teilenummerdatenbank/mercedes_teilenummerdatenbank.php

Although for our German speaking G-class drivers, following site is quite useful:
http://www.hanshehl.de/stichwoerter.htm

Is this a completely stupid idea for bringing this up (then I’ll shut up) or does it already exists? [:I]

An excellent idea. Are you volunteering to be the keeper of the list?[:o)]

RE: FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist)

I should've seen that one coming [:p]

But yes, I wouldn't mind, payback for all the helpfull tips and hints I found on the different forums.

We could use the sticky function and people send me pm's and weekly or monthly, I publish an updated list per category (Engine, Exterieur, Interior, Misc or just plain alfabetically)

I'll try to figure something out

The prices that are mentioned are normally the ones from http://wwwsg.daimlerchrysler.com/Projects/wi/cda/etpl?etpl_lang=01 in Euro.
If anybody has an idea what conversion factor MBUSA uses please let me know.
At least, they should give already a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Sorry, there is not. The best alternative would be to put it on somebody's website (possibly clubgwagen.com?) with a link to it in your message.

Although not a sponsor of this website, I do see them post here occasionally; and members here have mentioned on several occasions that they've purchased items there.

They seem to do the vast majority of their business on Ebay.

RE: FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist)

Personal vendetta ?
Week ago member FLX found on our eBay listing AMG pedal kit for his new G-Wagen and asked us to provide parts number for this kit.
He mentioned that his car has mechanical transmission. Point was: could he use pedal kit from Mercedes SLK on his car.
Our answer was: first we do not provide parts numbers for our accessories, SLK brake, clutch and accelerator pedals are different and will NOT fit his car.
We also explain that we have pedal kit for his car and ready to sell this kit and send to Belgium.
His answer is on MB forum.
The whole idea to to help forum members with FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist) based on a simple vendetta.
Member FLX just copy all our listing items from our eBay store, spent tremendous amount of time to locate all parts numbers in EPC and posted all parts on a forum. He did not provide part numbers most of us are looking for, just for the parts we are selling in our eBay store.
He did a great job, but if you are really want to help G-Wagen community as a new member why not to help us to buy all parts we can not order thru MBUSA in our country?
All G-Wagen owners know the fact that even you have a part number on your hands you can not buy or order them in any Mercedes Dealer. They just are not exist in MBUSA EPC
Start to do some real job, make a search for original and replacement parts, not only in Belgium but search in Germany, Italy, speak with company representatives, take care about shipping to US, take care about custom fees and clearance in your country and in USA. ?
Does it looks looks full time job?
Yes, we import parts for G-Wagen to USA, Yes, we are buying these parts from different sources in Europe and do not make any secrets from that.
All our bearing kits came from SKF Germany, our front and rear springs from Spidan, Germany, our "famous" pedals from WOCO, Germany , we import a lot of parts from ATE, Zimmerman. and etc.
Yes, we trying to make some money for our full time job, but if you just ones trying to go thru all hassles with shipping , broken and lost items, thru custom fees and regulations all paper work you figure out that is not to much profit in this business.
But all these parts are here, in USA, in our warehouse,2-3 business days away from any of our customer. I think this is real help.
Yes, we sell most of our parts from our eBay store, but at least we are honest and not trying to sell 133K miles W460 as a 33K virgin.
We not sell parts made in China as an "authentic" Mercedes parts.
Anyone can check our feedback and see how the 100% of our buyers appreciate our parts quality and our business ethic.
How I understand member FLX just got his first G-Class and new in this forum. I don't think it is a great start trying to compromise some member and his business name by personal meter.
"Who is fourbyfourclub anyway?"
Hi, I am Vlad, and was born in Russia. Started to work in first Russian Mercedes-Benz Service station in Moscow in 1975.
In 1985 I was immigrate in Germany and use to live in Dusseldorf. Was working on a different Mercedes Benz service stations as a mechanic and later as manager.
Bought my first G-Glass, 240GD in 1987, In 1989 invited by National Geographic as a support technician in an international project " Silk Road"
We started our trip on 10 brand new W460 300GD in Dusseldorf and for 3 month later reach China border (still have some great pictures)
After this adventure I had some money to open my firs own place in small city Bochum and fourbufourclub was born. We (me and 2 more guys) did regular Mercedes repaire jobs and started to do some custom fabrication for off road vehicles and prepared vehicles for off-roading. In 1993 I met my wife in a friend house in Düsseldorf.
She was from New York. First time we visit New York in 1994 and I decided to move to USA. In US I use to work at a different Mercedes places and my last work place was well known to all G-Wagen enthusiasts Wolfgan,s Inc. in NJ. I reopen my own business in 2000 and how I have small warehouse for our pars and accessories.
From 1987 to the present time I owned 16 different G-Wagens. I import my last car 1993 300G to US in 2000.
So, this is the story and I am sorry for all grammatical mistakes I made.

RE: FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist)

Vendetta or not, a commonly needed parts list is a reasonable idea. As far as buying non-MBUSA parts, I find that Caliber Motors (http://calibermotors.com/parts.html -> wholesale parts) provides parts at a reasonable price and delivery time. I had a parts guy in Santa Barbara, but he has been out on medical for a while. Seems like he is revving his business back up again. He really understood what the parts were for and would warn you if you were making a mistake (ie. forgetting a seal or washer).

RE: FAP (Frequently Asked Partnumberlist)

thanks to the internet and forums like this one makes the world a small village.
I owned a couple of years ago a 280ge and had to replace some parts. It was for me the same price to buy the item from my mercedes dealer than the dealer in europe.
So check your dealer, check ebay (and others) and check this forum!
