Fellow Gwagenarians,
I have been having the dickens of a time getting a title for one of my Gs. It has 14 digits on the VIN but the state(S) want 17 digits. Anyone in Texas with a gray market have a tip to relay to convince the administration that they are cars and really do exist?
Thanks
Thanks.
My car is a 84 before good computers were invented, so no WDBtag. I do have a letter from the department of transportation. Any other ideas? Boy, in the old days people were helpful without computers, now everybody thinks a computer is smarter than they are.
I have done that very thing in Colorado, I added the WDB on my '84.
Actually I used WDB for State Farm, to get it in their computer. Colorado took the 14 digit. Then when the state and the ins co compared notes the state said they had no record of that VIN being insured. So I verified the VIN(14 digit) with the state and had Stae Farm change their records.
I suspect you will need to find somebody at the dmv that will HELP you. Best of luck with that but, it is really the only way. Could you drive the truck to the dmv and have a supervisor or some such verify the 14 digit VIN and view import docs and a previous registration?
I in fact titled my former 1986 280GE in Texas and as has been stated, add the WDB to the front and there will be no issues.
