Why the inconsistencies on tread shape for a tire?...
A while back i was looking at BFG MTR's and noticed that the tread blocks are not all the same size. What i mean is if you look at a tire and rotate it, you'll notice that traveling around the circumference (the outside diamater) the blocks get longer and shorter as you move around the tire. I'm not just talking about the every-other-one spacing of inboard and outboard blocks, i'm talking about un-expected differences between blocks on the tire that you would expect to be identical. If this doesn't make sense i can take a picture.
RE: Why the inconsistencies on tread shape for a tire?...
G,,day the answer simply is ,noise ,drumming ,harmonics ,vibration ,with large open tread pattern if all tread blocks are the same they set up a hum ,or worse .explanation may not be technicaly exact but i hope close enough to explain .kerry
