Maybe someone knows for sure whether these wheels are beadlocks or not, but what they look like to me is a more common military approach - a 3-piece rim. The bolts around the edge aren't specifically for locking the bead like we see on wheels designed for that purpose. The bolts on the 3-piece rims actually hold two halves of the rim to the wheel center.
Wheels like this are great for expeditioning because they make it practical to dismount tires from the wheel in the field so you can carry a spare TIRE instead of a tire/wheel assembly, and save a lot of weight higher up on the vehicle where the spare is stored. Destroy a tire and putting a new one on is as "easy" as removing all the bolts from the wheel and separating the wheel components from either side of the tire and replacing them on a new tire. No need to lever the beads over the rim edges.
It's also easy to incorporate an internal bead lock, or run-flat component, as a 4th piece in a 3-piece wheel, but it's not strictly required.
These would be a pretty neat piece of kit, but keep in mind that they weigh a TON and you'll need heavier duty tires and shocks to handle the extra unsprung weight at each corner. The other thing that will make them undesirable to most folks here is that they're 5-1/2" width, suitable only for skinny tires up to about 30" diameter.
One hell of a cool addition to a G though! Wish I had the 1100 plus shipping to burn.
the wheels at auction are two piece BBS wheels. No bead locks.Selling new for about $2400 ea http://wwwsg.daimlerchrysler.com/Projects/wi/cda/etpl?ETNR=A3304000302&from=query&etpl_lang=01
unfortunately they are only 5.5" wide and won't accept any decent tire.
i e maild the company that makes the wheels for the canadian army to see if they would be interested in making me a set. i have not heard back from them yet,
