Hello all, My name is Steve Sheers from Melbourne Australia, and have recently purchased a 1987 SWB G230.
I really enjoy the advice from the forum .

One question, I have twin Aux fuel tanks and when the low fuel light is on, and I fill up, the most it holds is 75l.
It is also very slow for the last 10 litres. is this normal

I thought it should hold about 100 l

The low fuel warning sensor on the G (when it works anyways) is set to paranoid mode. You would want more than a 10 litre warning when crossing the Sahara.

So you might very well actually have 25 litres to go when it flashes.

I have no idea about the slowness. Done all the filters lately?

I ass-u-me that the last 10 liter slowness you mention is during fillup. This is normal. The aux tank on the opposite side of the truck from the fill pipe has to vent over through a small line that runs up and over the rear door. The air flow through there can be slow, especially if there's been any deterioration of the rubber parts or corrosion in the metal parts of that vent line.

As to the 100 liter capacity, why not carry a spare fuel jerry, run the truck to dead empty, put the known amount from the jerry in the truck and fill it at a filling station. That should tell you the total.

Please fill in your Personal Profile so we can remember where you are and what you drive. Thanks!
