RE: Ultimate off-road vehicle!

I don't know about that.

The original Hummer is WAY more capable as an off-road vehicle than the H2 is, and even the original Hummer had its downsides.

There are alot of H2 around in atlanta and 99.9% of them never see anything more challenging than the pot-holes. I guess 80% of them are done up in 22in chrome wheels with low profile tires. None of them have any brake upgrades or anything to compensate for the added 50+lbs of rotating weight (per wheel) added by that particular 'upgrade'. I just look at those things and laugh my ass off knowing that its a disposable commodity while the original hummers and the g-wagon are capable, tough vehicles that will be around for as long as you take care of them.

That being said, the amphibious aspect is kind of neat, but I can think of several other vehicles that are also amphibious that i would lable ultimate before a modified H2 [:p] although all of them are military vehicles.

Still, pretty cool idea.

I'd take a VW schwimmwagen first

Gads, these must be a blast to own. 4wd, propeller (pulls up for clearance) simple air cooled motor. They were rust buckets though. I've seen the work required to restore one. Ah, but what fun to tool around in!
