Hello,
Well, after much research, much help from many good folks on this list and a lot of good info on the web and Chuck at Gelaendekraft...here are a new set of Dodge (Mercedes) Sprinter wheels mounted to my (new to me) 1980 230G Cab...32x11.50x15 tires...everything works, no rubbing and no mods to make it work except some marvelous wheel adaptors to adjust offset from Chuck at www.gelaendekraft.com/...These new Mercedes alloy wheels cost me $103. US each...
George
George,
The wheels look great. Do you have any idea what they weigh? I love the look of the steels but am tempted by the price and potential weight loss of your new find.
Steve
Now you have to tell us what's with the G-wagen-cum-package shelf in the garage. [:D]
It looks ALMOST as sad as the XK120 in mine!
But the wheels on the 230 do look slick. Can't beat the hundred dollar price tag. Even with another $125 a corner for the adapters (the price of bespoke vs mass production [:(]) $225 apiece isn't bad for such a nice wheel. And, you get converted to wheel studs in the bargain instead of the bolts, right?. Good deal.
Are you able to walk into a Dodge dealer and buy those wheels? Or are tehy still a special order affair?
The G in the back ground is the 280GE that had its driveline destroyed....see the thread some months back where I was collecting opinions about what happend...I'm still waiting for a determination about insurance liability so it's just sitting in my garage...
On to the wheels...if your Dodge dealer is a truck dealer they could have them in stock. I called around to three different local dealers and picked the one that gave me the best price ($103 each) and went and ordered one...it was shipped to the dealer at no cost to me and took like 2 days...the one wheel looked like it would actually work so I ordered the rest and the rest is history...The boxes they came in had Mercedes part numbers and the Mercedes center caps fit perfect...
George
Hey I recognize that truck! George, it looks great. I'll let you know how it goes trying to get the 16" versions. I called the dodge guys and the part number off Harald's site is good but they could not give me a price or confirm that they are 16". Do you have a part number from yours so I can make sure I am not getting five of the 15" versions.
harald, any chance you can add a rim weight collumn for the rims on your website...? Have you figured out what your going to do with the wheels on your 02?
