Need distributor for 1980 230G

Can anyone direct me to a source for this item?
the Bosch number on my distributor is 0231 168 028
and apparently the new Mercedes part number listed for this distributor is 002 158 9901...
most of the auto wrecking yards I have called only have
the Bosch 0231 170 137 number...anyone know if this will work for me?
my 230G has a 4 cylinder M115.973 engine...most of the W123 (230 sedan and coupe from 1976-1981 have the M115.954 engine...)
any help would be appreciated...
thanks
George

I suspect that you could rebuild your distributor by mixing and matching parts from other distributors for that motor family. The weights, springs are the most likely things to be unique. The springs might be available as spares.

If the shaft is loose, installing a breakerless igniton kit might be good enough.

I need a second unit because I'm converting to fuel injection and don't want to risk my original distributor...

A friend just upgrade his 230G to a 280GE. I pretty sure that the distributor is still on the engine. I let you know tomorrow.

RE: Need distributor for 1980 230G

There are two numbers listed on the unit. one at the top#0 237 523 001
bottom#003 158 3001.

This distributor is from a 230G. Not certain of the year. Double check your numbers and let me know.

Regards.
