O2 sensor and check engine light codes...

I've got Check Engine Light Codes P0150 and P0155 popping up from time to time... i've got the replacement O2 sensor... i believe the sensor in the photo is the one to replace... drive side, just behind the exhaust manifld. Anybody figure otherwise?

and if it's the one, anybody know how the hell i'm supposed to get a wrench in there?!?! looks like custom tool time or something....

RE: O2 sensor and check engine light codes...

2/1 O2 code. Bank 1 on OBD II is the side with the #1 cylinder. So yours being Bank 2 will be on even cylinder side of engine. Sensor 1 meaning the upstream, before the cat. It looks like you have the upstream in the picture but will have to verify which side.

They make a crowsfoot O2 wrench. Any tool truck will have them, I've seen them on ebay, and I also think I've seen them at the auto parts store (Schucks?). Make sure the engine is close to operating temp. when you change it--less chance of pulling threads out with it.

RE: O2 sensor and check engine light codes...

Here's 2 different types, the crowsfoot and a slotted socket. http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/TTW93.html#1017 I did want to add that most cars use 7/8. So you may want to check your new one with a 7/8 wrench. Not sure if Mercedes uses a special size or not but if so, you can get the special tool or cut the wires off the old one and remove with regular deepwell socket than use a regular crowsfoot to tighten the new one.

RE: O2 sensor and check engine light codes...

THanks for the info, I picked up a slotted socket... the sensor is 3/4" (22mm)

my cylinders are marked 1-2-3-4 on the passenger side and 5-6-7-8 on the drivers side.

The drivers side is shown in the picture... so it looks like that's the one to replace.

Dutch, were you thinking i could get O2 sensor codes from the failing purge valve?
