I just got word from a Mercedes-Benz factory Parts Depot in Germany that many of the parts for the older G's are no longer being manufactured; and, when they are sold out, there will be no more. In fact, many are already no longer available.
That is sad[:(] I guess the days of having an all original 460 are almost over. I guess things will have to get upgraded to the 463 as they break, if that part is unavailable. Very sad indeed.
Remember that there are lots of militaries with 460 G's and at some point they will be liquidating their parts stocks. Many of the parts, at least for the driveline, will work in the civilian trucks.
If it was in relation to some driveline component, my guess is that they stopped making them because they have 300 in inventory and they've only sold 10 a year for the last 10 years.
With the obvious exception of my own stupidity with the transfer case, I just don't see driveline parts for the G becoming a big problem any time soon. It's not like people are breaking axles and diffs all the time.
I think it's much more likely that they're stopping production of some parts because they don't forsee using up the stock on hand for many many years. As others have said, 460 Gs and the need to service them will be around and supported a long long time. At least we can thank goodness that THAT at least won't be up to the whim of the modern consumer, nor the corporate bean counters. Military contracts are not written loosely nor easily ducked.

Just one man's opinion.

Let's hope for the sake of you older G owners that your opinion is a good one. I can only reiterate that my source for the info I posted is very reliable and sells a lot of early G parts.
I find it a little strange considering the mentioned item was from the driveline. My front driveshaft for the G320 (463) has a 460 part number, I am pretty sure the rear one was also a 460 number. I would think that those are like to remain availible anyway, as they fit the 463's.
