My rear tire is getting removed from the rear door - hopefully this week. I've looked at several pictures of Gs w/o the rear mounted tire. They all have some body plugs of some type in the 3 holes that will remain. They all looked to use identical plugs from the photos. Before I spend some time at the body supply shop maybe these are a MB part?
Can somebody check their EPC? There should be 3 plugs, and it looks like the top one (overlaps the ridge in the door) may be a different shape/part #.

My EPC does not show and plugs for the holes - only the attachment hardware.
Where are you going to carry the spare? You are aware that the mount can be lowered to improve the view out the back?
Lower would be nice to impove visability, but I have another problem.
I street park the G in Chicago. There are a lot of people that can't parrallel park and use your bumper as a parking guide. That stupid hard shell sticks out farther than the bumper and is too fragile to survive any impact. Mine has been dented twice, and I'm sure many more will follow. It looks like crap.
Also, I have a hitch mounted bike rack which I use quite a bit. It doesn't clear the tire either.
The tire will be moved inside, possibly mounted on-end above the CD changer. If it can't be made to fit there I'll just lay it in the back.
they also do the wheel lowering brackets, and would you go for a non-fragile fabric cover,or if it is an alloy wheel leave it uncovered.Just ideas as opposed to losing the interior space.
