03 G500 Door panel pulled off when the door is closed

Every time I close the front doors by pulling from inside the car the door panels are pulled out leaving a gap about 1/8 of an inch to the door metal. I assume these panels are pushed in panels, because I can push them back to the door and I can hear the locking noise.
All my German cars have heavy doors and they have taken a beating without the panels been pulled off. Is there something that can be done to fix this? I hate to see what will happen in 5 years from now after everyday use.
I wander if warranty would cover this or is it considered normal wear and tear?
Also this could possible damage the locking mechanism…
Thanks

I don't know exactly what the newer interior door panels look like, but there should be some heavy duty screws holding the panel to the door - at least in the area around the area where you pull it closed.

Did you buy it new? If not, is there any possiblity that there had been some earlier repairs, and they forgot to screw it?

Hi Dutch,
Thanks for the reply.
I bought it used. I was told that the rear locks were changed during a service.
It is possible that they messed with the front doors too, and left those screws loose.
I will try to locate the screws.
Thanks

I had the same problem on the front passenger door on my '02 G. I had it fixed during a service; there were some broken holders behind the inside door panel.
