So far no one has been able to upload a vacuum diagram for an 82 280GE / Auto trans, so I'll try attaching pics in hopes someone can go out, look at their G and tell me where the lines go.
1. Below the Fuel Injection (FI) toward the front there is a Y connector joining two hooked up hoses to one... where does the one go? (See second picture)
2. On top of the FI near the rear there is a stub sticking up. What vacuum line gets hooked to it? My guess is the vacuum unit on the bottom of the auto transmission (see additional photo of it). There is a long vacuum line that may connect the two. (See 1st/3rd pictures)
3. I also attach a photo of the distributor... do I have these two right?
4. As long as I am pressing my luck, anyone know where the green electic wire goes
5. Finally, because people have asked, on another topic I will upload a photo of the leather reupholstery job
The green wire goes to your "spark box", The silver box on the inner fender well. There's only one connector like it in the whole engine bay. as for vac routing, can't help with the auto trans, but I can look at the rest of tehm tomorrow when it's light (and a little warmer) out.
Thanks Dave, Got it. Now the most challenging are the two pipes that go to the Y vacuum connector. Turns out not only is the single side disconnected, one of the two other ends is disconnected. Crawling everywhere yields no suspect ports to plug. Hard to work beneath the Fuel Injection system.
At least it''s warm here... today is our first day of summer.
Maybe you can get some clues by looking at the photos for steps 2 and 4 in my ignition and compression test service article in G-tech at CGW. I'm not sure I could get anything better here on short notice.
Looks like the back (dizzy) side of the vac advance diaphragm goes through a check valve to a green or grey plastic line, and the front side of the advance valve goes to a red plastic line. Not certain where those two end up though. I'd have to look. Let me know if you need more help.

If that truck/car had A/C, on my 280GE there was a pair of vacuum lines that adjusted the idle speed and advance when the compressor engaged. Don't know if this is applicable here or not. Just a random thought.
