I typically search for many months to find the right one and I'm sure I did with this (spent 7 months)! This forum was a wealth of help and information!

I purchased a one owner garage kept 94 E320. The car is like new and is the talk of the office!

Thank you Benzworld!

Hey Everybody,

Looking forwarding to helping, if I can.

Untouched 1972 280 sel 4.5 liter with 30k original miles. Original paint, original muffler, original radio, original everything and it works perfectly.

I do all the maintenance/repairs myself. Have changed all the filters, hoses, etc. Am currently changing passenger side window regulator, rebuilding power steering due to leak, and cleaning and recharging AC system.

First of many questions: Where can one find an AC Receiver/Dryer as this one seems to be discontinued? Is there a common replacement unit you folks put on this model? The OEM long, skinny, vertical one seems impossible to find.

Thanks,

Hi ya'll, I just purchased a 2001 Mercedes ML430, it has the panoramic sunroof and third row seating. I read a couple of things about the roof that scared me, but, I love it and so do my kids, my husband hates all sunroofs... This is my first Mercedes, maybe someday work will pick back up and we'll get a brand new one. I'm looking at the different ways to customize it, really need a different radio/nav system. Have to be able to hook up to my itouch and miss my bluetooth already. My last two cars had the newer nav screens which was of course clearer, so this one seems fuzzy, but it was the technology available in 01, what do I want??? Anyway, hope to learn alot from you guys. Thanks.

I'm new here. My name is Austin and I own my second Mercedes W123. The first was a 240d. Blew that one up with no oil in it. Ooops learned my lesson on that one. Loved that car, so found another one for cheep this one is the 1981 300d with a transplanted 1982 300 TD engine in it. This one runs good with 300,000 miles on it. It smokes a little and leaks oil also so i check it every day. I like these cars because they are somewhat easy to work on and get great fuel millage for a classic car. I have already replaced the whole front end steering and suspension. Car would not shut off when i bought it. I am having trouble with the vacuum system. was not hooked up when I got it. no egr no door locks only outside vents work in cabin. Started at egr. would not hold vacuum so i got a new one. moving up the line got to Vacuum control valves on top of valve cover. both shot and would not hold a vacuum. Got new ones. the hoses were the next problem. replaced those. The problem is the thermo vacuum valve(36a) and egr only receive vacuum when the engine is turned off? I know the cut off switch receives vacuum after the car is cut off. I have the vacuum connected as the diagram I found here shows. Also why is there a "vent to passenger compartment" that seems like it would disrupt the vacuum. Any info would be helpful.

I was trying to get this working before i moved on to the vents and door locks. Also the cruse control worked when i bought the car. I cleaned the engine to try to find the oil leaks and it stopped working. would water have messed up the electronics in that or is that just a coincidence?

Thanks for any help

Hello I am from Canada
I am new to the diesel world just bought this '85 300d TD and I would like to know more about the vacuum to the EGR and swichover that is connected to the shutoff valve.
The car runs ok while the engine is relatively cool but as soon as it warms up I have a hard time turning it off even using the shut off red lever
it also seams that the idle is going up a bit when the car is fully warmed up
The car has 300 k
I forgot to mention that the vacuum system works (even next day all doors open )
Thanks in advance

I'm a previous Mercedes owner just returned to the fold. After my initial departure I ventured into Jaguar land, even Bentley territory, and, while impressed in many other ways, their build quality was a continuing disappointment. Disillusionment even. The R129 is not quite in the 280SEL 4.5 class for quality, but its close - and much better than anything else for that matter.
Sanity has returned, and I'm glad to be back.
A buddy of mines dad had one back in the day and I've waited till the prices dropped into reality before buying one. After new power steering pump, 4 ABS controller arms, new AC, multiple electrical issues and new leather interior it is a really fine ride. Will post pictures later in the roadster section.

Hi!

Seeking for a ML cdi -02->, and the current car is -00 Ford Focus. :)

It's just that prizes or shall I say taxes are insane here in Finland, so the cars remane really expensive. Example -02 270 cdi 200k km is about 24k e = 35k d. :o

I'm propably going to import a car from Sweden or Estonia, where the example car costs about 11k e= 16k d. Taxes are going to be maybe less than 10k euros. I would love to have a 400cdi, but taxes would be really high, so I don't know yet..

Hello Benzworld community! I've been a registered member for several months, though I've benefited from the incredible resource of information here for much longer!

I owned a 1980 300D Euro spec (sold) and 1971 240D (sold) previously. Today my daily driver is a 1981 300SD w/ 201,000 miles. I purchased the car on eBay earlier this year - flew to San Diego, CA and drove it cross-country back to DC (without mechanical inspection or much pre-planning). Happy to say I made the trip without incident. The car is close to perfect now, though I have a short list of projects still to do: A/C not working, rear shocks & suspension, cruise control, and fuel sending unit cleanup/replacement. Otherwise, she's immaculate inside and out.

I'd like to offer my sincerest thanks to all of you who have shared your stories, knowledge, and expertise here for all to benefit from. It's a great community of real nice, knowledgable people - and I'm glad to belong!
