I'm about to take the plunge and get a C63. I currently have a 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo X50 and recently handed back my 2007 BMW M5 (winter/family car). Now, I want one car that I can put people and golf clubs in, so the Turbo is no good. The M5 was awesome but not fun. I looked at the M3 Coupe which looks great but I can't seem to justify the extra cost over a C63.

I think I'm going to take the plunge and get the C63, it seems like the offspring of the 911 and M5. The only question is color.

I'm thinking:

Dark silver (my Porsche is "Slate Grey Metallic" and the ideal color)

Black (My M5 was metallic black and dirty all the time)

White (Never had one, but looks kinda cool)

Matte black (Special order and looks "stealthy")

What do you guys suggest?

I live in New Jersey and while I don't plan on driving my C63 in the snow I still plan on driving it quite a bit in very cold weather. The original summer tires become quite slick in freezing weather. I plan on buying a set of all season tires as I can't be bothered switching from summer to winter tires twice a year. Just curious as to how much of a compromise in grip are we talking and which all season tires you are using. Thanks guys. Tried doing a search and didn't find much.

Hello everyone! I am new to this board and havent found any discussion on this topic. I have been looking at picking up either a new c63 or s4 and am stuck. I drove the c63 for the first time this weekend and was blown away with its power and the sound of the engine. I also found that the cabin was more refined than the s4 and for me it wins on looks. That said, I keep coming back to a few things with the s4 that I really like: quattro, more backseat room, 19" rims, and better fuel economy.

I was hoping that others might have gone through a similar struggle as me and might be willing to post what made them pick the c63. My mind is basically made up, but it still wouldn't hurt to hear the "pluses and minuses" that others have gone through.

Here is an article from Hemmings online. Enjoy.

DTM for the Road

Mercedes-Benz’s in-house performance tuning branch, AMG, has cooked up an even hotter version of its C-Class hot rod and DTM German Touring Car Masters official safety car, the C63 AMG, by stirring in some spice from the new flagship AMG SLS in the form of the new Performance Package Plus.

By adding the Performance Package Plus — which consists of forged pistons from the SLS, new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft, as well as revised engine management software — the 6.2-liter, V-8-powered C63 gets a 36hp bump to a stunning 487hp at 6,800 RPM, enough to rip the car to 62 MPH in 4.4 seconds and on to an electronically limited 155 MPH — or optionally, 174 MPH.

Also part of the Performance Package Plus is a new high-performance braking system that features unique composite brake discs clamped by red AMG-logo calipers. A carbon fiber trunklid spoiler and a special AMG steering wheel wrapped in nappa leather and Alcantara set this C63 apart from the crowd. This package will launch in December, with a list price of €7,080.50, or $10,421.70 for the C63 sedan and €6,426, or $9,458.35 for the C63 wagon; rumour has it we’ll see it in America shortly thereafter.

Hi everyone!

Very cool board you have there.

I just ordered a 2010 C63 in Canada (delivered in March cause winter is long here!)

I have read and read and still I can't find much info about the LSD. Since I am into track racing, an LSD seems a must for me to tame the beast in tight corners. The car seems tail happy.

It's pretty much why I want the sports package. It's also not available as a single option here (just part of the sports package).

If anyone as driven it on a track with and without an LSD that would be awesome info.

Also getting the Kleemann K1 ECU upgrade for sure!

thanks in advance

hey folks,

friend of mine wants to dyno his C63 on a Dynojet tomorrow. is this ok? any sort of procedure to do so safely or reliably? just kill stability and traction control? or need to pull a fuse?

lots of problems for instance with Porsches and some other cars when there's large differential between front and rear axles. any issue with the C63?

TIA
