OK, here is the deal...I have an '06 Sprinter with 60K and change. My engine light has been coming on and off for about 3 weeks. I had a buddy hook up his Snap On computer...said there was an issue with one of the glow plugs and cleared it. I took it to a shop that I take my other vehicles...they said the same...computer showed issue with one of the glow plugs. I told them to go ahead and replace the 5 as well as the module. They called about 4 hours later saying they were worried about issues from previous experience and wanted to take it to the dealer down the street. It is now at the dealer and I'm waiting for a call in the morning. If one of the plugs snaps and they have to remove the head, will that be covered by my powertrain warranty?

I have a 1996 208d sprinter uk model fitted with a 2.3 4 pot lump. the first question i have is the rear axle, i want to change oil. Can i use 75w85 as i want to change the gear box oil at the same time as well. The second question i have is would i be better to use semi synth or fully synth engine oil has its getting cold here now, so would at 10w30 better than 15w40. thirdly some times the motor pulls really well and others it struggles to get over 70mph yet theres no smoke or any signs of any injectors blowing. the fuel filters new also th air filters new any ideas.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry, Post Title should read "Problem With ASR on 2006 Sprinter?

One of my Sprinter delivery vans (2006) has a new issue--While driving with the engine turning between 2100 and 2400 rpm ~60-65 mph the engine will lose power when steering to the right only and under light to medium accelleration. It does not go into limp mode (I have experienced this on both vans already) but just momentarily feels like I have lifted my right foot slightly. This is similar to when the rear axle slips on take-off and ASR is activated, but this is not what is happening at highway speeds. I'm going to switch it off and check it out that way, but in the mean time, has anyone else experienced this? I'll follow-up after the test ride.

Thanks in advance for any information,
-Bill

need an ohms reading for the sender unit on a mk 1 sprinter if any one has them

also for a transit mk5 sender if any of the brit members have them

trying to get my frankensprinter to talk to ford bits in it

bit of history

308 d with 100 ps ford turbo DI in it along with mt75 box , transit clocks from mk 5 , so when hooked up to sprinter sender i get an ok ish reading for empty ( between 4 and 15 litres in tank when down to red on clocks ) but 20 L gives half full from red and 40 L shows full , the extra 37 l to fill tank gives me a bent needle

i can live with it but would like to work out if i can add resistor to get readings some place closer to right

i've a '03 plate 316 4x4, i had to use the 4x4 diff lock function the other day, she's amazing, the 4x4 bit disengaged after, but the diff lock stayed on. I Had to use the van for work today and almost scrubbed out one tyre! having a look under you can see a solinoid assembly on the near side diff 'leg', it seems to have an oil feed from the gearbox (sprintshift) a bleed nipple and an electrical connection, so any advice people? try running the engine, bleed the nipple? take it of the diff leg and see what i find? this happened once before but the diff engagment light went out after a couple of mile, not this time tho
cheers carl

I have a 903 312D year 2000 Sprinter selectable 4X4. The front diff and prop shaft are engaged while in 2WD (but disengaged at the transfer box). Therefore the front wheels are driving the front axles, diff and propshaft giving poor fuel consumption (5km per litre) and the steering is heavy. Were these van fitted with front free wheeling hubs? Alternatively are free wheel hubs available to purchase?

Are workshop and/or owners manuals available for this model?
Thanks
