gearbox be a safer bet or are they prone to problems, the model she would be looking at purchasing is a 2006 to 2007 a160 classic.with around 30,000 miles

The alarm goes off intermittently and the boot/ tailgate light come on when... I have just bought a 2006 a-Class 150 which has developed an alarm fault. The alarm goes off intermittently and the boot/ tailgate light come on when driving. The boot appears to be closed fine but i read somewhere else that a 'loose' boot latch can cause this problem.
