Guys,

I have met with accident and the photo shows the damage.

The tail gate (hatch back) is dented as shown. Also the bumper has scratches. The door opens/closes without any problems and all electronis work fine it looks like.

Any suggestions on how to get this thing repaired properly. Is it better to go to delar only for repairs or any other body shop can do it? Does insurance skimp on repair costs. I know MERCEDES costs a lot even to repair small items.

Is it just a dent remove and repair or whole door need to be replaced? I am worried about the alignment after the repairs an the door is notorious for this although I have no problems so far.

Thans all.

Are these a recall ?
Really unclear about this.

I have tried to contact several companies and it seems none of them come close to the hrly rate of 120.. which is what the dealer in north New Jersey gets for labor. Does anyone know any companies that have a 50 or 100 deductible that covers the hrly rate and Mercedes deals with?

The company below I have tried several times to get in touch with :

Michael Case
Harold Zeigler Automotive Group

Phone: (888) 324-3464
Fax: (630) 566-4197
info@chryslerfactoryplans.com
CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.

Needless to say I have yet to get a call back and if this is hard to get in touch with them to get a warranty..what happens when the car is at the dealership and trying to get repaired you wait until ? So anyone have company names and if they had good experiences with them shoot the names to me. I would love to know people from my area ny/nj/ct cause that would be most helpful

i took the R in for service for a 2nd time for a knocking noise in the rear suspension when going up a driveway and the dealership said it's a normal for R. they said they tested about 3 Rs and all of them have duplicated the knocking noise.
they already changed some rear suspension components under warranty the first time i complained about this, but the knocking is still there. the feeling is like something back there is popping out of place and it only occurs going up a driveway in an angle, not straight up.
does your R make this noise? i don't think it's normal at all.

It just popped to my attention that the complete SDS report shows the HSW (heated steering wheel) module responding. My 2006 R350 does not have this option installed (I don't think it was available at all in 2006). See the attachment. However, I suspect that the HS module (just above in the printout) controls both HS and HSW, explaining why it responds. The part number, sw and hw numbers are the same.

I wonder how many parts are missing to retrofit HSW. I'll dig into this next time I get a one day subscription to StarTek. But with all the dangling connectors I found all over my R, it is likely pre-wired. If the HS controller does the job, then the expensive controller is present. There would only be the switch missing (steering wheel adjustment lever), the resistor pack, and the steering wheel itself. The steering wheel might be expensive, but this could be cool if they all come with the heating wire inside...

My E has this option and it is awesome.

My 2006 R350 has no airmatic (I elected it out when I purchased for long term reliablity reasons) and 17 inches mini wheels. Despite the fact that the R is very comfortable, it has 2 road handling major annoyances. Cornering and bumping.

I generally find that I cannot exceed 40km/hr (25mph) in a curved highway access ramp, or else I feel that the R will tilt over. Also, when driving over a speed bump, I feel that the rear end jumps 2 feet up in the air, even when driving slowly. I generally find that the car does this on other bumps as well.

There are many threads about lowering the suspension, and increasing the tire size. My question is whether any or both of these mods are improving these two handling problems.

I made a road trip with the car fully loaded this summer and the handling was much improved. I'd like to avoid pooring concrete in the spare tire area to enhance the road handling.

I'm ironing out my R flaws before the basic warranty expires in 2 months...

Last summer, I noticed that there was a bad smell when the A/C was switched ON. I never complained about it but I read a DTB which states that if a customer complains about it, they make an antisceptic treatment of the evaporator under warranty. I will complain!

The other A/C issue that I noticed was that 2 clear fogging bars appeared right on top of the defrost vents on the windshield. I deducted that the cold A/C air was making the windshield so cold that the outside humidity was condensing. It was bad enough for me to have to run the wipers every minute or so.

I can't test this anymore, winter is coming. So all southern peers, can you please let me know if you regularly experience this, and if this is a normal behavior of the R. Or do you know if this is related to a known problem.

Ok, so now the passenger side power folding mirror is screwed up. I inspected it and it would seem that the limits of the little gear are out of range and the blasted thing doesn't work. I've changed the programming to not fold in upon locking now but this is getting a bit stupid for a car only 6 or so months old.

Sure there is a warranty but not having the car for 3 days while they sort it out is a bit silly.

Sorry, rant off now.

I hate the 06~08 button paddle shifter, and would like to know if the 09+ paddle shifter can be retrofit into the "older" R/ML model? I know the paddle shifter button can easily removed and the wire connections to the button is behind the airbag. What I dont know is the newer paddle uses the same "foot print" as the old. Would somoene have access to MB part catelog shine some light to this matter?
