I own a 1981 300SD and am looking at a set of wheels to upgrade the existing "bundt" style that came with the car. Can anyone tell me if the 15 hole, 15" x 7" Mercedes Wheels with a 112 mm bolt circle (came in newer models) will fit. If so, what if any special spacers or other mods, would I need to make?

Finally, assuming they fit, will I still be able to re-use my current tires (195/70R14). I am guessing not - so anyone tell me what size tires would best fit the new 15 x 7 wheels?

Thanks!

Hi everyone!!

I have a MB E350 2006 Sedan and i want to know a few things about to prevent damage on it.

witch type of wheel balance i have to do?? dynamic or conventional? i ask this because i had a older bmw 735i and the differential was damaged after the dynamic electronic balance.

same case for the wheel alignment process, is like another common car? or is more difficult to do? i don't know if the servo steering have to graduate too.

how many usually is the durability of my brake pads, if anyone know....

Thanks to all.

The low profile tires have somewhat of a harsh ride.

Can anyone tell me what kind of wheels they are and (I know, everyone values things differently) what a ballpark value would be? The rims up front are a different size than the rear. If I replace the wheels, can I get them all the same size?

Hi all i have 19' inch wheels currently on my 2003 clk500 and lowered suspension with just h&r springs and it is the worst annoying ride in brooklyn with all the bumps and potholes. I previously had 18" brabus rims on my car and coming back from atlantic city i cracked the front driver side rim the rim had about a 1 1/2 inch crack long on the inner side of the rim about 2-3 hair lenth width, and the outer lip bent out but not to much i want to know if its worth fixing and putting back on and have somewhat of a decent ride or its not worth fixing like the shop has told me (im sure they wanted me to buy rims from them thats why) but i need your guys professional opinion, Thanks alot in advance guys

Vehicle:
MB W210 E200K 2002 model

The problem:
Car pulled to the left on straight roads (South Africa- drive on left hand side).
Wheel play while driving, vibration.

Attempted solutions:
1. Alignment done. No change
2. Swapped tyres around on own axis. Slight change. Many tyre configurations attempted.
3. Compensated with toe and rear toe. No change
4. Wheel balancing. No change

Solution that worked:
The alignment technician told me that he could not adjust the caster setting on my vehicle, as there was no option for adjustment. He advised to me to get caster/camber bolts from the agent and then he could compensate for it after they were installed.
A picture of the bolts "the new bolts - caster camber"
Attachment 272538
I tried installing the bolts myself and noticed that the lower control arm bushings had collapsed. I replaced with new ones - i was satisfied with generic equivalent, which was 1/3 of the cost of the MB original part. The original part was made by Meyle (210 330 04 75 MEYLE 014 033 0061/HD) and can be found at HD Mercedes
HD Mercedes

It is quite tricky to change the bushings and one would need a large vice and a pulling/pushing device. The following pic shows the two original bushings that were to be replaced. If one inspects the bushing with a pry bar, cracks can be seen. Also there was a lot of free play and i was picking up vibration during highway driving.
Attachment 272541
Close up of the one bushing.
Attachment 272542

To change the bushings one needs to remove the front coil.
Attachment 272543

The ball bearing shaft also need to be separated from the hub. I used a heavy duty tie-rod remover. Careful for the brake hoses and ABS sensor wires and i recommend a jack (or strong cable ties) to hold the hub so that it does not pull the hose and cables.
The next pic shows the control arm removed. If you look closely you can see the cracked rubber housing of the larger bushing. The bushings originally had hydraulic fluid in them, which has now long since dry. The generic bushing i purchased also has fluid but i recommend to use the newer Meyle one as they found that the fluid and sealing was not a long lasting design.

After the bushings were replaced, i then fitted the caster/ camber bolts.
If you look at the next pics, you can see that there is a lip on the path of where the caster / camber bolts are to be slotted into. The bolts travel through the bushings. The chassis of the car has the lips there already and together with the new bolts one can select a few placement options. The options depending of which are chosen can adjust the caster and/or camber.
Attachment 272544
Attachment 272545

The new bolt has a recess and the washers also have lip and recess to fit into the lip of the chassis. The combination of the recessed bolt, washers and lip of chassis move the control arm thus providing caster/or camber adjustment.
Some of the MBs came with these bolts and thus first check if you actually need them as they may be there already.
Attachment 272546

The required spec for the caster is: Min: 5 degree 35' Max:6 degree 35'.
The spec of the caster before any work done was 5 05'. After it was 4 85'. Thus the new bushing actually made it worse. Remember that the bushing was changed for other reasons (vibration and wheel play while driving). Also, as the bushing was soft now, the dynamic caster was probably large, that is, the bushing would move too much and thus under load conditions the caster would be changing too much. Thus the new bushing holds the control arm in place more firmly and thus the dynamic caster range would be lower.
The bolt now was required to increase that caster amount which it did. The final spec after adjusting the bolt correctly was 5 36'
Thus now i had a smoother drive, and the car did not pull excessively to the left anymore. I can still adjust the right caster bolt if I want to improve the pulling any further.

I am the unintentional owner of 4 new Pirelli Snows size 295/40/20. I am trying to figure out if there are aftermarket rims for these size tires that will fit my R63 or wife's S8. I found a chart on line that states the rim width should be 10"-11" for that size tire. However OEM wheel width is 8.5" or 9" respectively. I am not sure of the chart's validity.
Does anyone know if there is a web site or rule of thumb when determining what size wheel will fit on a vehicle relative to wheel well and caliper clearances? I do not know much about wheel offsets / Dose that play a part?
Rather than trying to sell the tires locally I am considering the purchase of nice looking after market rims for either car.

Thanks in advance for all opinions.
I will eventually move up to 17's or 18's but I like to research rim/tire selections extensively before pulling the trigger.

In addition to some serious TLC, it needs tires ASAP. Any issues with moving from 225/55 to 245/50's? I would like a little wider profile on the tires. I searched the boards for about an hour and didn't see anything. I'm looking at Yoko 520's from Discount. Pics always appreciated.

If anyone has a set for 17's for sale, especially locally in North Texas, let me know. Looking forward to lurking, contributing, learning.

All the best and TIA, ep

Just got some N5000s to replace my Toyo Proxes 4s on my 2001 E430 4matic. So far, I could not be happier. The ride is silky smooth and the handling is great. All 4 tires in stall cost me about $400. I got them mounted and balanced at Wal Mart for $12 a tire. Just a tip for all you W210-ers out there looking for tires.

want to run RunFlat tires. Which means larger Dia. Tires. 245/40/19 and
275/35/19(avliable runflat sizes) Will the larger tires cause any ABC problems?
It appears that I have clearance in the front as the tire wound clear the
nut over the tire by about .2in.

Took my CLK430 with 235/35 R19(Front) & 265/30 R19(rear) for a wheel balance last week since there was a slight vibration to Discount Tire. They made the vibration worse.

So I took it back in today and they tell me that the front tires seem to be "splitting" (a 2 inch long line going across the thread of the tire). Common issues with this particular model of tire I was told

They want to replace it prorated with Hankook Ventus V12.

1) Has anyone seen this issue before?
2) I have warranty on the tire, shouldn’t it be 100% covered instead of prorated?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanx

Dear all,
When I release the parking brake the red Brake bulb does not go off and when I start rolling I receive the "Release Brake" alarm. I got it measured and the parking brake is released (car does not brake when rolling) but the switch is stacked...
The question is: Where is this switch located? (i have some schematics from detali.ru...) Has anyone experienced such a thing before?
What could I do to stop heal this?
Thank you all...
