I've been searching through the forum but can't seem to find anyone with the same problem as mine. I just got an Alpine stereo put in my 2006 E350 yesterday and everything works fine except the auto tilt steering wheel that moves up and down when you get in or out of the car stopped working. You can manually move it up or down but that one feature just stopped. Also the display on the dash keeps changing back to the temperature outside every time I start the car. Any help would be great!
Thanks!

I have recently just gained a problem with my mercedes e220 model w211 55plate. The problem is with the instrument. The central circular information display and milage has become very bright. It should be black in colour with white info messages (trip, mpg, temp etc) but has now gone very light and the info is very hard to read as if to much voltage and is increasing the lcd image. When i first get in the vehicle in the morning it looks ok untill i start it up then in 5 mins its bright again. I have removed the display and reconnected it the day after but the same again. I have also tested the voltage when running and its ok around 14.3v I was wondering if there is a resistor of something in the display that is causing it or will i have to send this off for repair. I was a mastertech with saab and should understand most things you may suggest so any info would be great. Thanks

Hello All,
Update to my post below. Info and Help needed PLEASE.
It is amazing as to how much more we at benzworld know about our cars, parts and part numbers then the MBZ dealer.
The dealer tells me that the prior owner of my S500 2004 did not use the navigation system for a few years and that although I have a DVD 2004.1 disc, it is outdated and the system has to updated ( navi unit in trunk and command in dash) with an update / service disc and a new map disc. before I can use the navigation system in my Benz.
That will be $785.00 ( parts & labor). I have searched the forum and learned that I can get a service disc and a new map disc from the MBZ parts department and "Do It Yourself" and save on the labor & parts.
Problem is the search results are old 2003-2005 and the service disc part numbers are different now then what I found here. The MBZ parts dept does not know the new part number for the 2009-2010 service disc. Can anyone please shed some light on this. Iam I going about this correctly or do I need to bite it and let the dealer to do the entire update?
Thanks for your replies, and insight with this.
John

Hello All, Please help and thanks in advance for your replies.
Yes, I did a search for my problem, but could not find any relation.
Here is the problem, I purchased an MBZ S500 2004, 51,000 miles, Black / Charcoal, Florida.
I have the COMMAND DISC that came with the car " COMMAND DIGITAL ROAD MAP" North America, USA/Canada 2004.1 When I insert the disc I get a map and screen that shows the menu. After a few minutes, I get a screen that says, " NAVIGATION" WRONG VERSION OF NAVI DVD NAVI IN UNIT. voice command says, NAVIGATION IS NOT ACTIVE.
My Mercedes-Benz service says I need an updated DVD installed $300.00.
Now, I see that at one time the navigation was working because there are old routes programed, why would it not work now with the old version? Any ideas / suggestions?
Thanks,
John

Trouble replacing speakers in 107 chassis (350/450 SLC)

1) Has anyone successfully replaced the front speakers in a 350/450SLC? I bought some 4" Blaupunkts, but the metal basket/flange on them prevents their fitting neatly into the original openings. I suppose I could attach them from behind, but that would require pulling apart large sections of the dash, and possibly the steering column on the driver's side. Any ideas?

2) Essentially the same problem in the back... the stock rear speakers (and the corresponding opening) are about 5" in diameter, just slightly too small for standard 5.25" aftermarkets. The new speakers sort of fit in the openings, but they won't rest completely flush with the deck. Has anyone found an adapter or spacer that will allow larger speakers to go in without cutting the surrounding metal? Unfortunately I can't install them from underneath the rear deck because the exhaust ducting that contains the wires can't be accessed from either the trunk or the the seat.

3) While I've got the rear seat off... can anyone recommend a good place to buy replacement velour/fabric to reupholster the deck? The original one is still intact, but the fabric is badly sun-bleached and starting to decay. I figure I might as well cut a new deck out of particle board, but don't know where to look for velour that will match the rest of the interior and look relatively original.

Any insights/advice greatly appreicated!

Hi all,

I recently purchased a beautiful 2003 CLK 430 vert with only 20k miles. It has Comand voice response and the V60 telephone cradle but no navigation. Naturally, I bought the bluetooth puck to replace the V60. Before removing the V60 it worked fine, I could get it to dial and report "no signal" etc.

I can successfully get my iPhone or even my old Motorola Q paired up to the puck, but all I get is "processing" on the MFD if I try to do anything. I have left the phone paired up for up to 30 minutes with no change. Has anyone else seen this behavior? I'm at my wits end...any help is much appreciated.
