Going to Johnson Valley to tackle the Hammers trails if anyone wants to join our group let me know! This is some pretty hardcore wheeling so if you want to come, you would need to come prepared. I've been told that the group that is going is mostly Jeep based with a couple buggies. I think everyone is running at least 37" tires and locked up at least in one end. Any mog should be fine but you should preferably have the gas tanks and battery packs out of harms way. They've got some pretty big rocks down there at the hammers.

Check out this link if your thinking about joining us to get a good idea what the hammers is like. Dan?s Videos

Check out the video on the bottom that says hammers johnson valley 09. If you want to see it in a larger hi-def format click the arrow in the top right of the video

I really appreciate this forum but Jesus! with all the beeping pop ups I can hardly navigate around at times. Pages load slow and at least once a day my computer just refuses to load the page at all and IE locks up.

Yeah I have a ton of protection on my computer (firewall, virus, spyware, ad protection etc.) so I'm sure that adds to it but these days you need that stuff so what can I do. No I'm not getting a Mac.

Guess there is no way around it Just had to vent a little after being rudely interrupted while trying to relax to everyone's comments on how to build a nice shop.

It looks like somebody is making serious money off of us here.

Or is it just me having these problems?

Hello All,
I'm new to the forum but I wanted to get some fellow Mogger's opinions on a custom fabricated rear bumper/flatbed that we're making. It it constructed out of 1/4 steel, has a hidden 24"x48" Tuffy slide out storage box, removable fold down center section to allow access to the Tuffy drawer, and doubles as a staircase into the bed. The center section is also fully removable via two dead bolt latches then slides right off to allow access to rear PTO and rear hydraulics. It is not yet fully completed but we wanted to see what everyone thinks. It is also getting a winch operated swing down tire carrier, 1/4" thick diamond plate decking, LED tail lights, LED reverse lights, fold down bed-sides. I would love to hear your comments! I will post more pictures as the project progresses.

List,

I'm not sure what to ask for my 416 DoKa, Here's the details:

Unimog 416 Doka
Like new Michilin XM47's with 6000km on them
Dynabeads balanced

Insulated cab, seat belts, auxiliary heater, BMW front black powered leather seats, Leather Covered rear seat, exchange OM352 engine and 6x2 transmission with 144 hrs on both, 2 new Gel Cell vibrations resistant non leaking batteries, raised roof with pop-up vent, power steering, disk brakes, high air intake, front PTO, Recirculating Coolant heater, New hood. Needs Bodywork (particularly rear doors) and rear drivers portal seal.

I've driven this Unimog to Portland OR (NWMF) and back with no issues. The rear portal seal just started leaking in the last 100km. Truck starts, runs and drives excellent. Locker seals were replaced and work great. It will need the rear doors redone, and typical rust area's looked after. I've moved out to acreage, and need a more reasonable daily driver to go back and forth to work.

Truck was previously titled in the USA, and I have the title so I'm sure it could go back.

I don't usually link to ebay stuff, but this is too good to not share.

There is a guy on ebay who has a large number of the TruckLite tail lights that are used on the U500 in the USA. They were taken off assembled trucks (I don't know what), and seem to be brand new. They are $20 per set. I figured that was too good to be true, so I ordered a set, just to see how big of a sucker I really am.

Here's what I got for $20:

Left and Right tail light /stop /turn /reverse modules, seem to be Trucklite 45742 and 45743.

Mounting brackets that fits perfectly around the tail-light pipes on my U2450 (if you were designing a custom bracket, you couldn't do better than this).

License plate light - Trucklite 15729, on license plate holder/bracket

Cable harnesses that terminate in Metripack 280 male connectors (5-way)

Pig tails on each tail light for additional reverse lamps, terminated in Metripack 280 female connectors (2-way)

Male metripack connectors with seals to plug up the reverse lamp pigtail connectors if not used.

P-clamps for the harnesses, and for the large metripack connectors.

Not bad for $20 if you ask me. Here's the link to the auction...

TRUCK LITE TAIL LIGHT SET! STOP! TAIL! & BACKUP! NEW!:eBay Motors (item 120486955468 end time Nov-02-09 20:41:45 PST)

The 5-way metripack connectors are fairly standard. I bought a bag of 50 of them on ebay for $10, so I'll have 48 spares if anyone needs some.

The Trucklites are all lamps, but they are standard type 45 modules, so you can swap them out for LED types like these...

RT series Tail Lamp

I tried one of those and it seems to fit OK, and is a lot brighter, and takes less juice. It just swaps right in with the same connector. The turn-signal flasher probably won't work with LEDs, although I haven't tried that yet.

GUESS THAT COUNTER WEIGHT!!

Does anyone have information, or an educated guess on the weight of my counter weight? This was sold with the schmidt plows and blowers for the Case Unimog.

I can't tell what its made from, but I imagine upwards of 3000lbs. -Or so.

The problem for me is that when my suspension lockouts are up, it really sags in the back.. Because of this, I have to use a jack to lift the back to get the lock outs in place. This is a really inconvenient system.

I considered fixing a hyd. cylinder vertically, so I could just lift the rear that way, but I would actually like to take this off and sell it because I sold my plows, and could benefit from having access to the rear pto, and have a pintle hitch to install.

It looks small compared to the Unimog, but if anyone has any ideas, or wants to make an offer let me know.

Thanks,

Just wondering how many moggers w/ 6 bolt diesel Unimogs have had the front left portal gears/bearings fail?
Have had 2 customers pump gear hub oil out of the portal box while highway driving.
Looking into developing a reasonably priced solution for this as well as a clean easy and quick way to change gear hub oil on all 4 hubs.
If the interest is there we will work on a product for this.
Thank you,
