I am trying to isolate a problem with AM radio signal on a 2002 ML500. I pulled the interior panel off the hatch and checked the antenna amplifier power lead (11 volts), the ground connection and the coaxial cable connecting collar. I also check all the connection on the antenna splitter. Everything checked ok.

I did observe a symptom with the truck parked and the radio on the AM band. As I close the hatch slowly the radio becomes perfectly clear when the hatch is approximately 1 inch from the closed position. If I move the hatch back and forth at that location, the radio will cut in and out. It acts like the antenna cable is shorting or opening with the hatch movement.

I believe the coaxial cable is routed through the rubber carrier between the hatch and interior located by the right hinge. Does anyone have diagrams of the routing of coaxial cable and access methods to get to it.

Thanks

I could share pics but I do not have them. I was trying to Change my seats and messed around and cut the Air back cable inder neath passenger seat.

Put it back toogether but somehow they touched, shorted my fusebox, that one wire went hot and but everything in its part from fuse box, through firewall, all the way to the seat.

Now Windows won't go up, Cd changer is out, Stereo does not power when car is startes, ABS light is on, air back and SRS on aswell...fo now those are the fallouts...

BENZ dealler says forget about car; we'd have to take out all body kid/wiring!

well took to a Auto Elctrician and the bill has not stopped skyrocketing...11 hundred and counting...

just tot i'd share..this is one DIY that went horribly wrong!

The Wheels are finally flush from the rim alone, so it seems i dont even need spacers :)

i ordered the rims online so i worried before about brake caliper clearance but actualy there is so much space now that i could put a 2nd calliper on top of the other.
here are some pics (sorry i didnt washed my car before i took the pictures)

I have learned alot of things from the posts on this site. I got my first question though. The rear entertainment system has a vcr under the seat. I am wanting to put a dvd player in being that all my kids have are dvd's. Can i wire in a regular dvd or is it more difficult than what I am thinking? Thanks.

I have a 99 320, and a friend sold me his front bull bar (black with hellas mounted and skid plate). The bar came from an 02 320.. and I'd assume it would fit, however, I did not get the mounting kit. (Bar came from mercedes and was installed by them on the 02).

When I line up the guard on my 99... there seems to be no place to mount it.. it's at least 10 inches away from the lower frame. Besides fabricating something.. am I out of luck? It'd be a shame to lose this bar. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/imag...s/crybaby2.gif

FYI - This week I received a surprise gift card from my MB dealer in the mail.

It is pre-loaded to a value of $500 and is valid for one year.

The letter along with the card states the value is redeemable for 15% discount on service maintenance, parts, or repairs (not retroactive), which will save some on my annual maintenance and maybe some repairs, though to redeem the full credit requires spending $3333. The card can be used multiple times until the value is exhausted.

It can also be used at 100% value against against the lowest negotiated purchase price of a new or used vehicle from the dealer.

The fine print indicates it is valid only at the specific dealership, but is transferable to family or friends.

A nice touch from the dealer. :)
