Hello all, this is my first post. I have searched for my issues and not found any conclusive answers. Maybe you folks can help me.

ok, first...

Hello all, this is my first post. I have searched for my issues and not found any conclusive answers. Maybe you folks can help me.

ok, first question...
I drive ALOT. and FAST... I live in the USA. It seems that quite often, when I am driving in cruise control around 70-72 mph, the message appears that I need to check my oil level at the next opportunity(not exact words). When I check, it appears to be fine. I mentioned this to the dealer but they have no clue why this would happen. Doesnt happen all the time, and only seems to happen when I'm using the cruise control at those speeds. If I'm in cruise at 75+(where I live, this is not an uncommon speed) it doesnt do anything, and doesnt do it if I am -65mph...

2nd issue, the sunroof does not always close properly. It will try to close then back off. I had this looked at at the dealer also. They "fixed" it but it started right back up a few days later. this problem comes and goes. Any ideas?

3rd issue, I would like to be able to plug in my iphone in the car, if for nothing other than to use the ipod functionality. Is there an adapter that gives me complete control with this car? I do NOT have factory navigation or a cd changer installed.

4th issue, I have always been very mechanical, built a car on my own even, so I do most of my own mechanic/repair work. Basic stuff like brakes, tune-ups, etc. There is a message about the service interval being exceded, but I have done the service and cannot for the life of me get the message to go away! The dealer will only do that for me if I have them do the service again also, which defeats the whole point of doing it myself...

Lastly, just for curiosity sake, on the center console, when I lift it to get to the larger storage compartment, I notice that there is a set of wires going into the compartment cover. It is not visible in the top compartment(the small one that opens via buttons on either the driver or passenger side). What do those wires connect to and what do they do?

Bought winter tires per the owners manual and tire rack... They dont fit!!? Help!

Hi guys:

Owners manual says 225/45/17 fronts and 245/40/17 rears. For winter it recommends the rears be the same as the front 225/45/17. Tire rack says the same. So thats what I ordered.

I went to get them installed and the guys said they would never fit on the rear wheels. It didnt look good and they tried one rear wheel... the tire was barely hanging on. Not even close to fitting!? Yet thats what the owners manual and tire rack recommend for the stock wheels?!?

Any idea whats going on? They said my front rims were 8.5 inches wide and the rears were 9.5 inches wide. Is that normal stock width? They look like the OEM wheels. It might be worth noting that the car also has 245s all round from the previous owner, not the stock tires.

Hi there,

I am new to this forum and i am looking into buying a w203 c200 Kompressor.

There are 2 engines available, the m111 2.0 ltr kompressor engine and the 1.8 ltr kompressor m111 engine.

-Whats the difference apart from the obvious fact that the newer m111 has a 1.8 motor?

-Do they both have intercoolers?

-Do they rnu the same boost?

-By looking at pictures between the 2 engines, the m111 looks like the supercharger is on the left side and the m271 is on the right side, is that correct?

I have an optiion of buying a my2003 c200K with the m271 engine and want to know what is better the older 2.0 or the 1.8 model?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Caliper Guide Pins

Hi Folks.

Another brake thread. I replaced my front pads at the weekend on my C220 CDI (2002). Having slotted the new pads in I was having trouble putting the caliper back on, initially I though I hadnt pushed the piston back in.. turns out that the lower caliper guide pins had rusted up and would not move, thus allowing the room for the thicker pads. With a screwdriver and hammer I managed to remove them, clean them up a bit and get the caliper back on and the brakes are fine. HOWEVER, being a paranoid individual I need to replace the rusted guide pins before they cease again.

So, I called the local 'stealer' and asked him to order a set of guide pins (and gave the chassis number). When I went to collect the parts all I got was a set of the gators and the caliper bolts. When I queried "Where are the pins" the guy went away and came back with a drawing of the brake system and said "Well this is all we have mate, aren't any pins on this diagram". HOPELESS!!

So, does anyone know the part number of the front caliper guide pins??
I think the brakes are manufactured by Lucas and the pins 'look' very similar to those on a Range/Land Rover...

Thanks for your help guys...

Hi guys,

I'm looking for recommendations on where to get parts. I drive an '06 c280. Specifically, the clips on the chrome bezel that surrounds the shifter boot have broken off. Mine is the wood grain shift knob and tan leather boot.
I also need to replace the passenger interior door handle. I don't know what it's actually called, but the plastic handle is separating from the interior of the door.

Any recommendations for sourcing parts would be much appreciated. Apparently this stuff isn't covered under the damn CPO warranty and the MB dealership wants $400 just for the parts.

Hey guys
I have an 01 c240 and the back right wheel seems to have started making a ticking noise. Its almost like have a baseball card in a bike wheel, but just a little bit quieter. It speeds up when I make a turn and the car leans toward that side. Its less noticiable at highway speeds, but upon approaching stop signs/lights. You can def notice it. Maybe a wheel bearing, or CV Joint? Can do the basics on cars but I wouldnt say Im a Tech by any means. A little input on that would be great.

The tickings coming from the right side. On the left side it makes 2 noises. When going over a pot hole, decent size bump or any other PA road for that matter it makes a noise like if I was to have a bolt with washers on it and a nut at the end. Imagine me shaking the bolt with the washers bouncing of the nut at the end. It makes a clanging noise when hitting bumps. Sounds like somethings loose. Now when I enter my drive way at a weird angle. The back suspension makes a bell dong like noise.

I used to have this problem on my mk4 jetta in the front left. It ended up being the spring spining when I would move the wheel. Now Im not sure what would be doing this for the back. This is why I came to you guys. I realize that I have super poor descriptions ,and its leading to bad grammar. In my defense its terribly hard to recreate the sounds through words on a forum.

If anyone has any questions about that please ask. I appreciate any help I can get from you.
