The one thing that dose not work as it should is the lighting for the heater controls. All 3 knobs light up but all the numbers etc dont except on the left hand side heater control light up, slider control also dose not light up.

Is this an easy cure, I know if i pull the knobs off i will see a large nut that looks as if it holds part of the dash so if I undo this nut (any idea of size?) will I be able to get to the necessary wiring / bulbs to check things out and get my dash fully illuminated, all switchs for windows etc light up as they should.

I paid $675 and it is in wonderful condition. Just had a full tune up prior to the head gasket blowing; wires, plugs, cap, and rotor. Also has a new full exhaust. Interior is amazing and exterior just needs a good coat of wax. I am very excited about this project.

List so far:
-Head Gasket and Head Check and machining (Will check timing chain while in there. Actually I will have a friend help cause I'll have no idea)
-Engine Mounts during head gasket job
-Thermostat and coolant system
-Transmission fluid and filter change
-Power Steering fluid change
-New antenna

Any recommendations or thought, please let me know!!

First things first, I need to replace the gasket and all associated parts. I have a started a thread here on preparation for this:

I hate to start a new thread, on a common topic, but the answer is elduding me. Long story short. I have a 88, 190e 2.3, automatic transmission, and a 87 parts car, also a 2.3. Sooooo, the deal is that the car starts and idles fine. But 5 miles up the road, same place, same incline it loses power like it is not going any further and gonna die. It doesn't, but it acts very badly. Choking and spiting.
Now, these are the things I've done to fix this.
2 New sets of plugs, (last set nonR, copper core)
New set plug wires
2 new fuses in OVP
changed distributor cap. Used out of other car.
changed fuel pressure reg.
changed the idle senor unit,
changed the CSV
Installed a new O2 sensor
checked the cat. convertor
Two other clues, that may be of interest, we changed the tranmission a couple of months back. And when the first set of plug went in it ran perfectly for 1 day then back to crappy running. Just recently put in the new plugs, it did make it run better, but still the miss.
This has been going on for about a month. I've been feverishly watching posts for an answer akin to my problem, just have'nt hit on it yet....
Any suggestions?????
