I installed my new projector headlight set with a xenon upgrade. The HID bulbs include a ballast for each bulb (one for each side). I hoping someone can help with where i should place the ballasts. The wiring is not that long and it only extends around where the headlights are. I currently placed the ballasts directly underneath the headlights because there was a little room right between the lights and the metal underneath. Will it get wet there, if it will, where would be a good place to keep them dry? thanks!!

Hello All, I did some searching but failed to find anything about the air supplies to the front seat air "cushions" my car's drivers seat stopped inflating and the passengers inflates for about two minutes after car starts and then it deflates. i know that there is a pump under the back seat by the battery and I have seen it. It looks like one unit that supplies different components. I did find one hose disconnected on the drivers seat when I took off the back cover, I reconnected but the seat does not get air anymore, I am wondering if the air for the seats comes from a different pump? because if it is just one pump, how can it shut off only the drivers seat supply and still provide air to the locks and the passenger seat, even if for a couple of minutes...if anyone has any ideas please let me know. I wont bite on any comments about my post if I called anything by the wrong name either...as some muffler "discussion" comes to mind :wink_2:

thanks,

It just recently started getting fairly cold here in Alabama. So I thought that that was the initial cause of this strange "howling-whooshing" sound. But it has not gone away. It seams to be coming from the front end of the vehicle. As I accelerate, the sound follows. It's like a "turbine" type noise? I have a normally aspirated engine, but it sounds like i have a blower. It hasnt affected the engine performance, but the tranny seems a bit slow to wind up?
I looked under the hood for debris/obstructions, but found nothing? I had the tranny serviced (regular maintnance) about 6 months ago. My tires probabally do need replacing, but it's not a "moaning/humming" tire type sound? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, B

Just purchased my dream - been looking for the right one for years! Obsidian blk w/blk leather, nav system, sunscreen, xenon lights, etc. 35,500 miles (confirmed via CarFax and 2 previous owners (I'm third)). CPO'd at 27,500 miles; only work was new oil pan gasket and axle seal. Also, no bling option 265 (no E55, AMG, Sports, etc) - a real sleeper. Perfect shape.

My questions:
1) Vin decoder and VMI show no nav system. Previous owners say it was installed at factory (it's a MB display mounted to dash with what appears to be a dash accessory that molds into dash - very clean mount - and a Siemans unit in trunk - works well). Original dealer (sales person remembers) says it came with car. Thoughts?
2) Has Avantgarde Option (954); blue tint to windows (still very blue) but...no aluminum dash inserts, etc. What else should it have (if the '99s had the aluminum dash, etc).
3) Previous owner runs Mobil 1 15-50. Should I go with 0-40?

Thanks to all and keep up the great work.

Good Day to all.

My center muffer needs to be replaced. I would prefer not to use the MB replacement primarily because of cost - $1200. What do the forum recommend as the best yet cheapest replacement for this component? Is there an aftermark replacement? It is important that I retain either the stock exhaust sound or very close thereto.

I have searched this forum and read most (if not all ) of the exhaust mods. I am not particularly interested in the X pipe application , delete resonator/center muffler and delete secondary CATS stuffs.

Thanks in advance for your helps.

I have a 2000/2002 comand system/bose. Recently I noticed that the door tweeters and the dash speakers aren't producing sounds. I put a 9 volt to them and they move and make noise so i feel confident that they function - also... im getting no voltage with a volt meter on the wires lol

Im not sure where to start troubleshooting the wiring. If I could get a hint im sure that is all I would need to get this fixed -

Should I start from the amp? The deck speakers for instance are green and black for the other - I assume they travel to the passenger wiring tunnel area on the right side? Do they go directly to the amp from there? Do they go to the radio first? The strange thing is NEITHER side tweet or mid is working.. but the door midbass is working perfectly. (The rears are also ok... )

Where do I start looking????

Thanks for any tips!

Hi all,

Wanted to share with you and receive opinions on 3 little annoyances that have developed over the past two weeks:

1. Idle surges at warm up in "P" and "D" gear at approx. 50F and again when reaches 80F. Car will actually lurch forward slightly if brakes not depressed far enough in "D". Been letting it warm up to 60F in the garage before heading out after happening for first time. You can hear and feel the surge easily when temp reaches 50F. Surge occasionally at idle when stationary in traffic at 80F in "D" gear.

2. Vibration on the left side of steering wheel when turning on the climate control regardless of temp setting and car temp. Vibration felt when car is in "P" or "N" gears. In "D," smooth, no vibration. Vibration increases when moving wheel while stationary in either "P" or "D."

3. Small vibration/flutter feel in steering wheel on braking at approx. 10 km/h to stop. This is intermittent regardless of speed/brake pressure applied. Seems to happen most when just braking gently. Hard/soft braking makes no difference and no vibration/flutter at any other speed, so I question the rotors being the culprit.

Car is a 2000 and just rolled 79,000 kms (49,000 miles). Harmonic Balancer? I have no clue. Being examined by local indy tomorrow, but thought to post here first for suggestions/advice. Maybe I'm asking too much of a 10 year old car.....

Thanks,

Rob
