There's only one thing the Mercedes E350 is missing – about 100-hp. We hate to start off on a bad note with this car, but the base 3.5-liter V6 makes just 268-hp and an equally mediocre 258 ft-lbs of torque. It's not a bad amount of output, but hardly what you might expect from a Mercedes and definitely less than you should get for your $48,925.

Now anyone from Mercedes would tell you the E-Class Coupe isn't about raw horsepower or 0-60 mph times – the E350 Coupe taking around 6.5 seconds to get up to speed. And to a certain extend, they'd be right. Which is convenient, if you happen to be selling a car like this.

The decision to drop the immensely successful CLK from the Mercedes lineup seemed like foolishness, until the E-Class Coupe was announced. Set to take the CLK's place in Merc's lineup, this new car is still very much its successor, even riding on the C-Class's smaller and lighter platform.

The E-Class name, however, is important to Mercedes, as it allows them to do so much more with the car – for the company and for the consumer. With the sport coupe market growing in horsepower and size, many of those vehicles (BMW 3 Series, we're looking at you) have started to encroach on the old CLK's territory. So along comes the E-Class Coupe, to straddle the line between the sport coupe and full-sized luxury coupe territory. But make no mistake, in true Mercedes tradition; the E Coupe is luxury first.

Hi all,

As you can see here, we have just had major transmission work done on our 1995 E320 Wagon. The shop we had used for our service work, Mitch Carr's in Kensington MD, had insisted that $4700 would have to be spent to fix the transmission -- they never even discussed the possibility of a rebuild, which ended up costing us much less.

As a result, we've lost confidence in Mitch's shop. We're looking for another shop in the DC metro area. We live in Montgomery County, MD, but can easily get to Arlington and to certain parts of Fairfax County as well. Please let me know if you have experience with any reputable shops in any of these three areas.

Thanks!

Well I have a 1984 300td with self leveling suspension. The struts are dry the pump seems to work fine. The issue is the massive leak under the passenger side and driver side middle of the car. I am guessing the pressure side and return line are shot. I am going to get under it today but I am just wondering if its a rubber line or steel like a brake line. Either way it has to get fixed. I can find under hood info and rear axle info but nothing on how the fluid gets from place to place.

Hello all, this is my first post. I have searched for my issues and not found any conclusive answers. Maybe you folks can help me.

ok, first...

Hello all, this is my first post. I have searched for my issues and not found any conclusive answers. Maybe you folks can help me.

ok, first question...
I drive ALOT. and FAST... I live in the USA. It seems that quite often, when I am driving in cruise control around 70-72 mph, the message appears that I need to check my oil level at the next opportunity(not exact words). When I check, it appears to be fine. I mentioned this to the dealer but they have no clue why this would happen. Doesnt happen all the time, and only seems to happen when I'm using the cruise control at those speeds. If I'm in cruise at 75+(where I live, this is not an uncommon speed) it doesnt do anything, and doesnt do it if I am -65mph...

2nd issue, the sunroof does not always close properly. It will try to close then back off. I had this looked at at the dealer also. They "fixed" it but it started right back up a few days later. this problem comes and goes. Any ideas?

3rd issue, I would like to be able to plug in my iphone in the car, if for nothing other than to use the ipod functionality. Is there an adapter that gives me complete control with this car? I do NOT have factory navigation or a cd changer installed.

4th issue, I have always been very mechanical, built a car on my own even, so I do most of my own mechanic/repair work. Basic stuff like brakes, tune-ups, etc. There is a message about the service interval being exceded, but I have done the service and cannot for the life of me get the message to go away! The dealer will only do that for me if I have them do the service again also, which defeats the whole point of doing it myself...

Lastly, just for curiosity sake, on the center console, when I lift it to get to the larger storage compartment, I notice that there is a set of wires going into the compartment cover. It is not visible in the top compartment(the small one that opens via buttons on either the driver or passenger side). What do those wires connect to and what do they do?

HELP - newbie needs to identify Xenons/P2 on E350!

So, I've been scouring the internet looking for 07 and 08 E350's.

Been hoping to find the P2 Package (Xenons, cornering/curb illumination, high pressure headlight cleaners, etc...).

Seems I can easily spot the headlight cleaners - they are easily identifiable by the triangular-shaped outline between the headlights and high-beams.

ASSumed this automatically meant P2 package, but then have read/heard where that is not necessarily the case. I've seen a couple adds and "stickers" (not authentic windows, just lists) that show headlight washers for like $100.

SO, I ask all you veteran enthusiasts out there:
1 - is it true that headlight cleaners can be added separately from P2?
if so:
2 - how can I identify Xenons from "regular" headlights from the front pics of an E350?

A Big THANKS in advance for your help!

Recently had some complex work done there. I'd recommend one mechanic (Greg) who is also a 240D owner and has a lot of experience working on the cars. Prices are reasonable for a dealer - fair and honest.

Alright iv got an 89' 300E. The sunroof seems to be out of sync, it will not close. I can pop it up and slide it back but it does not just close, i have to mess with the switch just right to get it to be closed. I heard there was a way to sync it so that it can actually find the position when it is closed.

~Thanks
