M.B.E.G. SoCal Route 66 and Speedway Cruise roll call thread.......
Mercedes Benz Enthusiasts Group presents:
SoCal Route 66 and Speedway Cruise
Saturday October 24th.
This event will have something for everybody. We will cruise Historic Route 66 from both ends (no, NOT Chicago, but more on that in a moment), we will show our cars at the speedway and then make 2 laps on the ˝ mile Toyota Speedway in Irwindale!
After that, we will watch NASCAR racing! Oh, and did I mention the cruise will include a Poker Run with prizes for the best poker hand?
This will surely be one cruise you will not want to miss!!!
All Mercedes Benz automobiles are welcome!
Now for the details:
We will meet about 10 a.m. I will lead the group starting from the west in Santa Monica. We will follow Route 66 as much as we can. All drivers will pick their first card before leaving. We will make 5 stops along the way and each driver will draw another card at each stop. One of the stops will be a lunch break (location to be determined) where we can talk and get to know each other. The final stop will be at the speedway, where the last of the 7 cards will be drawn. The best 5 card poker hand wins! I will try to get at least 3 prizes.
Richard (ROLLGUY) will lead the group from the east starting at the Summit Inn at Cajon Summit on Interstate 15. Same deal as the west, 5 stops along Route 66 with one of them being a lunch break. We will all meet at the end at Toyota Speedway BEFORE 3:30.
Upon arrival, all drivers must sign a waiver, then the drivers and one passenger in each car will be issued wristbands for free admission to the speedway, and any additional guests get in for ˝ price ($7.50) and children under 14 are free.
We will line up our cars for the “car show” in the “chalet area”. The gates open at 4:00 and we will show our cars until the opening ceremonies (about 6:15)
We will then line up behind the pace car and make 2 parade laps around the ˝ mile oval, then park our cars back in the chalet area or outside in the preferred parking (if you don’t wish to stay for the racing).
We will have an area roped off in the stands where we can all sit together and watch the evenings NASCAR racing.
It should be a fun and nostalgic cruise along historic Route 66 and end with an exciting night of racing!
You have a few options for this cruise:
You can start at either end,
You can join us at one of the stops in between,
You can join us for just the car show and the speedway cruise, or
You can make a day of it and do it all!
As always, I will make name tags for all drivers but I would like all participants of the car show to make their own car placard. In the next few days, I’ll make up a sample in Word and post it in this thread See post #27. You can put in your own details and display it on the car. Please download and print the attached flier to give to other Benz owners who may not be on this forum.
PLEASE NOTE: You MUST sign up on this roll call thread to participate in the Speedway portion of the event – there will be no late entries allowed.
I hope to get at least 20 nice cars for the car show, but there is room for more (up to 30).
Spread the word and let’s get the roll call started!!!
To sign up, simply copy the last roll call entry and paste to a reply, then add your info.

Looking for my next MB.
A Euro 500 SE in Blue would be the perfect car to start over with. None will ever replace BB.
1984 Euro 500 SEC "Blue Bird" Sold to Curtis Berger
1989 560 SEL, "Sylvia" Sold to Taylor422 & Famquat
2000 Texas Heeler "Sulphie"
When that old Karma Bus comes down my street I want to be on it...not under it.
Any one coming from the south? i.e. San diego? Would probably meet at the Summit Cafe rather than Santa Monica. Or maybe at a stop along rte 66 once the stops are determined, etc.
