| Winter tire recommendations
Hello readers,
I have a 2007 E-550 4matic.
Wher I live we have very bad winter conditions. The worst is when we get snow packed roads and then it rains and freezes again. Another bad condition is wet snow or slush, often on top of existing ice or packed snow.
The problem is that these bad conditions only exist for 2 or 3 weeks the balance of the time it is normal winter, some snow, some ice and much of the time bare roads. They do not use salt here just sand. If I buy agressive winter tires they are very good when the conditions are bad but for the other 12 weeks of winter they are unnecessary.
We are allowed to use studded tires. I use Nokian studded tires on my Volvo, they are a very good tire when the conditions are bad.
My E550 uses 245/40/18, does anyone have any recommendations?
Maybe I should just drive the Volvo when the conditions are bad and leave the Benz at home.
