TireRack Wheel Integrity Question for TireRack Ppl
I've been looking for a set of 18" wheels for my 1995 S-Class W140 and my price range is about 100-250 per wheel.
The set of wheels that really has caught my attention is the 18" KV5 sport edition wheels and on top of that a very attractive price. I spoke to a very experience family mechanic today and he voiced some concern over the quality of the wheels. B/c when i first mentioned the price he had assumed that i meant used wheels. Once he realized i'm talking about new ones he bassically said usually you get what you pay for and it being suspicious.
I personally disagreed about this wheel specifically b/c i know tirerack is a reputable company but in general i would agree you get what you pay for, unfortuantely i really love how it looks and even if it was more expensive i still would probably get it.
Now for a 1995 S-Class, from what you know would this be an adequate wheel? I know its listed as a choice so it obviously fits. But quality wise will it last just as long as any average 18" OEM wheel that mercedes puts on there cars cause i'm a student, been saving up for a set of wheels and i need something i don't have to replace in a few short years and then be bitter about.
Anyway any help is always greatly appreciated and hope to hear from you guys soon.
while wheel quality can vary wildly based on materials, manufacturing processes, country of origin, design process, strength adding processes, etc. The Tire Rack prides itself on selecting only high quality products that we can stand behind. Because, of our position in the market we feel that it is imperative that we carry only top quality products .... The Sport Edition KV5 is a very well made, cast alloy wheel that has both the JWL and VIA certifications. It is not one of our top tier products but it is one of the leaders in the "bang for the buck" catagory. For normal street driving, daily use it is a very good value
