Winter Tires - Dunlop SP Winter Sport M2??? Opinions wanted
Has anyone used these before? I was thinking about getting a set in a 255/60/17 for the ML320 since the Dunlop SP 5000 aren't going to cut it in the winter, even with the all-wheel drive, and we want to keep the shinny side up.
Here are some of the specs:
* Premium performance in all weather conditions.
* Directional tread pattern, high-density siping and undeniable precision for luxury cars.
* Maximum responsiveness and handling in adverse weather conditions.
* Porsche-approved for 100% of their current vehicles Winter tire needs.
* Factory-recommended by Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.
* Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) rated for SEVERE SNOW CONDITIONS.
I am thinking that they can't be a bad tire. Does anyone have any experiences with them
am considering these as well for 300CE for Chicago-area winter use
Choosing between this and Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50
The test comparison data (from tirerack.com) is interesting:
- Dunlop has higher speed rating (H vs Q)
- Dunlop has better handling and dry traction, comfort, noise, wear
- Blizzak has better snow (and presumably ice) traction -- although Dunlop is NOT bad
Blizzak WS50 or Dunlop Sport M2 -- for Chicago, seems like Dunlop may have the edge. For a more snow/ice area, definitely Blizzak WS50

Any first-hand experience with these on a Benz ??

In Chicago I typically recommend Sport Winter tires because even though you occationally get heavy snow, mostly your driving on lightly covered roads or wet roads and the sprt tires aere a little more versatile in those types of conditions

Thanks Luke... that's what I had concluded, based on reviews, etc.
Am choosing between Dunlop WS M2, Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice, and possibly Blizzak LM22. Pirelli W210 is too $$ IMO.
