| w126 560SEL wheel upgrade My 1990 560SEL has the stock (Dealer installed I believe) chrome 15 hole wheels. Chrome 15", stock width and offset.
These wheels are suffering from the chrome peel and I'm tired of having to check/fill my tires every other day or so.
Also, I currently have Yokohama YK420 tires (P215/60R15 93H). I have never been more dissapointed in a set of tires in my life. I was going to get Michelin Pilot's, but the tire store talked me into these. After 17 months and only about 20k miles they are all worn so badly on both edges (inner and outer) that they need to be replaced. Yes, alignment is great, they have been regularly rotated, and I've even been running them way over-inflated to try to even out the wear to the middle of the tire to no avail. They handle very poorly, tend to "understeer", etc.
Anyway, to the point....
I have aquired a set of 16x8 wheels that I believe are OEM from a w129.
Part Number: 129 400 01 02
Size : 8Jx16H2
Will these wheels clear ok on my 126 (560SEL)?
Also, I am back and forth on the following tires:
BFG Traction T/A H&V
Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S
Does anybody have any experience with either of these tires on their 126?
Should I go with a 225/55 16 or the 245/50 16? Anybody running either size on their 126? Any clearance problems with either?
Thanks,
JC Jones
