Cleaning the steering wheel

Hello there i have a 1999 e430 and my steering wheel looks like it needs to be cleaned and rejuvenated. Isn't it a leather wrapped steering wheel? Or some other material. I was wondering if anyone knew of any products out there that would help restore my steering wheel. Anything recommended is appreciated.
Thanks!

Leather steering wheel:

1. Clean the wheel’s leather surface with a leather cleaner (Leather Master Strong Effect Cleaner ) or a de-greaser (P21S Total Auto Wash) diluted 5:1 with warm distilled water in a spray bottle; dependant upon type and extent of soil or stain
2. Using a Medium / hard horse hair brush, or a soft sponge, spray and work the cleaner into a foam, lightly scrub surface and immediately wipe with a terry towel to remove excess moisture, especially around stitching (you may need to repeat this process).
3. Then use vacuum extractor or compressed air nozzle to dry
4. Once wheel is thoroughly dry apply a (Leather Master’s) leather protection

Post Be Careful...

For whatever reason, when I cleaned mine, the gray leather paint wanted to come off. If the color seems robust, I recommend using a magic eraser

Spray some mild all-purpose cleaner onto wheel. Work into leather with Magic Eraser. Do not let dry. Wipe off with cloth. Wait until dry, then apply high quality leather conditioner. Keep up with this cycle and you should always have a clean wheel. This will also work with the seats, which should also be cleaned and conditioned on a regular basis.

Prestine Clean should work on your wheel, followed by Rejuvinator Oil. I had a problem with PC when using it on my steering wheeel buttons, it seemed to melt them. Fortunately the detail people at my dealer were able to fix that.

I just use wollite diluted 1:6 and brush about the stiffness of a tooth brush. I have an old nail brush and it is just the right aggressiveness. Get the wheel covered in wollite, scrub, and wipe with a damp cloth and that should do it.

Be very cautious using Magic Eraser on anything leather or vinyl; it's an abrasive and will take the finish all the way off. Run a search on ME on this forum for much more information about it.
