No, there are several variations of this - and they are all ripoffs. The most common thing that they don't tell you, is if you polish or wax your car yourself, it voids a contract. This contract usually includes mandatory returns to the dealer to re-apply, even though they state it's a permanent coat. I've run into this many times with clients, and they usually just have me work on the car, and forget about it. Usually it's a silicone-based sealant.

Buy a clear-bra for the places where you think rock chips will occur, that's the best bargain you will possibly buy, believe me. I wish the PO of my '89 5er had bought it, but it wasn't around back then.

Most recently, there was a discussion about Xzylon "http://www.xzilon.com/" on Autopia. Interesting how the Xzylon associates claim it is used by Boeing to protect the aircraft. The reality is that it is only "endorsed" for one purpose, and it was used on the aluminum trim around the top of the jet engines, and it was only "endorsed" for testing, which apparently didn't fare as well as Boeing was looking for.

Also, they state it's a big job applying the stuff, but plenty of dealership employees have seen it applied, and it's just like anything else. You can buy it on eBay as well.

It's just a regular paint sealant, and apparently contains silicones as well, which aren't exactly great for the vehicle's finish. You'd be saving money by having a detailer come and wash the car every two weeks, and apply a fresh coat of sealant on every few months...

I hope this helps. These guys are sneaky, but it's been addressed before. Don't fall for it, it's just questionable quality sealant.
