Dark colored trim around the windows oxidizing?
I hope you guys know what trim im talking about - its that black colored trim on many of the different models around the windows, if you look at it close sometimes it has a purplish hue and you can see water stains and oxidization.
What do you guys use to clean that up / prevent it?

I would try 1Z Gummi Pflege Stift 'Rubber Care Stick' or Poorboys trim restore and then use 303 for UV protection. All of this is for rubber trim.

I would just polish those areas. I have done it before and have gotten excellent results. Then some wax makes it shine like black glass.

What is the best product to help prevent this from happening? I just purchased an 08 300 Sport.

The purplish hue you see is just oxidation. Use a cleaner wax to remove it. Keep these areas waxed and cleaned regularly to prevent this oxidation.

I find that Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh takes cars of it but it comes right back. I just found some Simichrome german-made metal polish that I am considering using for that instead. The detail manager at the dealer said all fixes are only temporary and we need to replace the metal trim parts if we want a permanenet solution. I like ByeByeAmericanPie's suggestion because I have some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax already that I'll try also.

It's my understanding that the no-touch car wash outlets use chemicals so strong that they can also be a source of discoloration too.

Interesting point Michael, I have used one of those washes several times so those could well be a contributing factor.
