If you plan to take them off the car and keep them looking nice while off, try these steps:
1. 1 bucket of water with a 1/2 cup of Greased Lightining(purple bottle)
2. wash wheels inside and out (even the inner rim part that nobody is going to see anyway)
3. towel dry
4. use a dallop of Mother's chrome shine and bring up the shine on them.
5. cover wheels with a giant 30 gallon leaf bag to protect them from the elements.
only use step #4 if you have chrome or polished aluminum wheels only. otherwise, stop at step #3

If you really want to do yourself a favor then get rid of M-B black dust pads and change to a Ceramic pad. I put Akebono pads all the way around on my 2000 SL and I hardly ever have to clean them like I did every three days with the old pads.
