That might be, but that could be a financial arrangement as far as I know. I'm sure their products are good, but I'd prefer a detailer that uses the best product for each purpose rather than blindly use whatever Meguiars makes.
See, that's were we differ, I prefer someone that knows what they are doing regardless of what brand he uses and will do an honest job and not cut corners.
Understand there's 3 levels of waxes sold, 1) consumer stuff where ease of use and safety from causing damage is key, 2) detailer or professional (body shops, fleets, etc) where speed and bulk containers at low cost are most important and a car has to be detailed as quickly as possible as time is money, and boutique wax companies that caters to auto enthusiast that are willing to spend 4 hours claying, and polishing and waxing their car and money or time is no object.
For speed, I'll use professional product like Malco Rejuvenator, one step buff/polish/wax that works really fast, it's cheap, very effective, fillers hide mistakes, produces a nice shine something a body shop would use and you will love the way it comes out, so an enthusiast would say it's not good enough, it only produces 98.7% of the shine and doesn't last as long as the stuff they use and spend hours applying, a consumer would just destroy their finish with it so it's not safe or easy to use. So you hire a professional to apply it and he makes more money if he can be done in 1 hour vs. 4 hours. On the otherhand, the shine on your car is not going to last as long as if you took the care to do it yourself with better products like an enthuisiast, but that's OK, right? That's what keeps you coming back for more, hahaha. If I was a detailer, I would want stuff that lasted a month, then you come back 12 times a year, if it lasted 3 months then I would go broke....
So why use a detailer that uses Meguiars, no reason, heck, Meguiars makes about 20 different waxes, about 20 different polishes, you don't know what they are using, good or bad, slow or fast.
Fair enough although the detailers I have been referred to have all told me that with my driving habits and the age of the car, I'd need a complete detail around once every 3 months and then I should wash it as often as I want .. once a week, or biweekly, etc.
Its a brand new 08 E550, and its garaged and will get less than 10,000 miles of driving this year.
But, I do understand what you're saying.

That is extremely odd you made that assumption.
A detailer would need to use an assortment of products to prove themselves worthy? If they use a proven system of specifically compatible products they are DQ’ed?
What about their years in the business? What about their track record? Do they have happy clients? Is there a history of detailing fine, exotic, classic automobiles under their belt? Have you seen their work or spoken to anybody that had their vehicle detailed by them?
Maybe a pro detailer knows what to use and uses his brand of choice because it works.
I wonder if MBZ used all MBZ parts on your vehicle instead of only assembling your vehicle with only the best parts? Every thing they make can't be the best can it? Just maybe they put together a vehicle (a system) of safety, performance, etc, that works.

Btw, before I reply, I think you and I have spoken about my car and getting it detailed just a few days ago.
I understand what you're saying, but so far I've spoken to dozens of detailers (including you), many of which have an extensive portfolio of amazing cars that they've done.
Not a single one has told me .. "I only use __________ brand's products."
So I would have to assume, all these detailers are wrong, and this one guy Meguiar's referred me to knows some proven method that involves only using Meguiar's products.
I never said that one guy is going to do a bad job or his methods are poor or that I'm not going to be happy with the end result.
What I am looking for is a detailer that uses a combination of products that result in what is best for my car in the long term. If thats using nothing but Meguiar's then I would think more detailers would be using only Meguiar's or predominantly Meguiar's products.
Unfortunately, I'm not a pro at detailing, and there isn't a guide on whats going to be best for my car. Its just hard to imagine that a guy referred by Meguiar's using only Meguiar's products is the best guy for my car.
Now if YOU had referred me to him because I am outside your service area, it would be different because there isn't a conflict of interest between the products you sell and what he uses.
I think the conflict of interest is my biggest obstacle in using him.
