Drip...Drip...Drip!

I bought a 2007 c230 about two weeks ago, and keep it in the garage of the house we are currently renting.

I've occasionally noticed drops of water on the right fender, behind the gas cap area. I was puzzled at first as to where they were coming from, but I didn't think much of it.

A few days ago, I realized that we have an A/C pipe going across the garage roof and, at the area just above where the Benz's right fender would be, there is a place along the pipe that does not have the black foam insulation tubing around the pipe. Thus, water is condensing on the cold pipe, and has been dripping onto the Benz overnight.

In the light, I now see several unsightly 'rainbow-colored' water marks. I have washed the car and the spots remain. 'Quick wipe' from MB does not remove them.

I therefore ask you, Benz detailers extraordinaire, what do I need to do to remove these spots? I'm quite pissed off at this, as this is a brand-new car (black), and I don't know what to do. I'm thinking that, when I first wax the car, perhaps the paint cleaner will remove them. But, I am not going to polish/wax the car for a few more months, as it just doesn't need it right now.

If I have to get professional help to remove them, I will. But I'd rather not spend the bucks if I can help it. Any ideas/suggestions appreciated!!

I would wax it now to be on the safe side. In my experience I have seen great results come from doing the full detailing steps. 1) Wash 2) Claybar Kit 3) Cleaner Wax 4) Wax. Keep in mind, its not the products alone that will make the difference but the proper applicators which you use. A total investment from pocket on products about $200. Not bad seeing that you'll have over 30 uses b4 you just need refills.

Thanks slybydesignw210. Any pointers on specific products that you would recommend for #s 2-4? Would you suggest the entire car, or just the affected area? Thanks again.

BTW: I have the MB cleaning products. Is the MB 'paint cleaner' synonymous w/ #3? If not, what is that paint cleaner for?

I also heard that using distilled vinegar will remove the water spots, but of course will also remove the wax. So, I'm going to try that this weekend--wash, vinegar on the water spots (30-60 sec), rinse, re-wash, dry, use paint cleaner, then use Mequiar's NXT.

Unless someone else wants to chime in with a suggestion to remove these spots, I'll try it and let you all know how it worked out.

Okay, the vinegar didn't help, but cleaner wax did (Meguiar's). No more spots.

Sorry that I freaked out for what turned out to be an easy fix.

I was just worried and angry that my new Benz would have these spots forever, and/or that I would have to pay $$$ to get them removed.

Sleek, shiny black. Nice!
