You must understand that when I say I detail weekly, this does not mean that I strip, clay, polish, wax, undercarriage, shampoo...etc every week...that would be moronic. But I do do a thorough cleaning weekly (paying attention to the details..hence the term detailing) and other more involved things on a periodic but pre-determined schedule.
I will NEVER hear the phrase "damn what a dirty car" while I am out driving. What I DO hear is "damn, that car is 8 years old? I thought it was brand new"
Same here. I detail my car once a week aswell. I wash, pressure dry, clean the inside, leather cleaner, rims, tires etc..... Even though my car is older I get the same comments about how clean she looks. I dont have a garage so parking outside everyday is a consern of my own. Keeper her clean is a good way of retaining the value of the vehicle apon selling or trade. I hate driving around with a dirty car even if it was a 1980 what ever.
ok , now we are getting somewhere...I vac, wipe wheels, clean glass weekly, but I only wash bi-weekly because I keep mine garaged. and being silver it catches less visible dirt.

I wish I could park my car under some where. Southern Cali weather, though not as harsh as east coast, can cause alot of damage to the paint, and bird shit is the # 1 enemy to any car. I hate it, and at my complex we get alot of dust, and birds doing air rades constantly. I drive 90% hi-way 60+ miles a day 7 days a week, so road grime is another enemy of my paint. I have to constantly wash to maintain the presents of my car. Actualy I would like to just wash every 4 or 5 days, but I do it every 7 days.

Do you have a Quik Detailer product where you can just spray and wipe off bird droppings and dust? I have found them to be quite handy to get the dirt off the car quickly without having to wash the entire thing.

Yes. I actualy used mothers quick detailer last night to wipe off some bird shit that was so big it splatted from the left panel to the front of the car, yuk. It does get me pissed but oh way its mother nature so I cant be to mad.

LOL...funny stuff....I remember those days..I've been in a house for 5 years but my other cars caught the dookie bombs all the time just like yours...hahaha
Ive never tried Ajax, apparently it works very well. But I can get a very nice shine to the car just by using regular soap and 30 min of washing.
I actually used to used laundry detergent...fill up the bucket with water and detergennt and swish my hand around in it until it dissolved before I washed the car, problem was, the detergent never fully dissolved and scratched the paint sometimes or left residue on it.
