Yeah but the question is would you strip everything off your car with dish washing liquid and leave the car like that, in Michigan?!! Shiny or not I doubt you would do that. Thats what benz_rider advocates you should do
I use soap made for the purpose of washing cars. And it works just as well as Ajax on removing bugs and other crap.

Exactly. Thats what I've been trying to say thats what you SHOULD use, because it won't strip the wax or protection you already have on there. But this benz_rider guy keeps going on about using Ajax alone which does strip wax and them leaving the car like that. It absolutely boggles the mind
What the hell are you talking about? You told people to use Ajax AND THATS IT!!
no I did not. I said if you are going to WASH your car, ajax is the way to go. period. forget the over-the-counter stuff.....then all hell broke lose filled with assumptions and speculations from everybody on what I said. nobody really read it and understood it...
I said I only polish/wax 1-4 times a year because that's all you really need. go back and read it in the first post I made (pro detailer part 1).
After I said that, the whole hourd of you got down on my ass because you guys polish and wax 3-4 times a month, which is fucking ridiculous in my opinion.
Most of you stood by the over-the-counter wash products to wash your cars weekly-bi-weekly and I debated why use that? it's not worth buying because it won't lift the dirt like ajax. but to each his own. go read it.
this thread was created to show you that you can wash your car with ajax all damn year and it will still shine and bead water until your next polish/wax.
if ajax was so harmful to my clearcoat leaving no protection, where's all the oxidation and fading then?

Yeah but your second post on that other thread was this....
"I disagree
being a detailer I can't say that ALL of the wax protection is compromised. I do however, after washing mine, use an absorber to dry it off and I use a bufferglove and just go around the cars. the key is to wash your car in sections at a time (i.e- hood, then front qtrs, etc...) rinse as you go and you will not burn off your protection. I haven't have a dis-satified customer yet."
And there is my gripe! Ajax is pretty strong stuff to use on waxed paint AND IT WILL compromise the wax. Then after that you go on about how tough clearcoat is and how it doesn't need wax protection yada yada yada. Now on this thread you say you must wax 1-4 times a year for protection. So i'll say it again "What the hell are you talking about?". You are contradicting yourself, thats all I'm saying lol

It took Benz Rider 15 years to perfect his methoid.
Lets review
#1 wash car
#2 clay bar car
#3 wax car
This took countless hours of back breaking work and
hundreds of hours in the lab to get to this new found
combination to a shiny car.

I said that because of the polish used on my benz when I bought it. NuFinish. they claim to be the "once a year car polish" and since I only do mine when the seasons change(3-4 times a year) so I picked them again when I did my last polish which was in December2006. 6 months after I bought it (July2006). AND I've been washing it with ajax the whole time and this polish has held up to it's claim. now it was time to do it again with my latest pictures to show that ajax, in my opinion, did not burn off all the protection of the NuFinish product. if anything, with the heat in texas, it cooked that polish on pretty good so when I washed it, it still keep a good shine.

I was debating with AmericanPie really over how many times he details his as opposed to what I would do. I only do mine 3-4 times a year. you are correct. but AmericanPie does something like 3 times a month or something like that. which I thought was a bit excessive.. but it's just an opinion. and opinions are like assholes, right? right.

You must understand that when I say I detail weekly, this does not mean that I strip, clay, polish, wax, undercarriage, shampoo...etc every week...that would be moronic. But I do do a thorough cleaning weekly (paying attention to the details..hence the term detailing) and other more involved things on a periodic but pre-determined schedule.
I will NEVER hear the phrase "damn what a dirty car" while I am out driving. What I DO hear is "damn, that car is 8 years old? I thought it was brand new"

Same here. I detail my car once a week aswell. I wash, pressure dry, clean the inside, leather cleaner, rims, tires etc..... Even though my car is older I get the same comments about how clean she looks. I dont have a garage so parking outside everyday is a consern of my own. Keeper her clean is a good way of retaining the value of the vehicle apon selling or trade. I hate driving around with a dirty car even if it was a 1980 what ever.
