I have been able to find some oscillating grinders/polishers by Black&Decker, Makita, and Flex which belongs to the same corporate set-up as PC which is Black&Decker.
Two problems with the Flex and Makita products when comparing is the rev band (up to 14.000rpm) which is much higher than on PC. The other is price at around €300 equivalent to $366 at todays rate.
Professional body shops and detailers here use rotary machines. I have been convinced by other threads and Meguiars video clips that these are dangerous for the paint in my untrained hands.
What polishers do you use guys or is it all by hand?
Best regards
Sisu
PS: American Pie, your input in the threads hhas been extremely useful for me already in these initial non-PC trial and error days. Your car also looks spectacular.
Found some answers on autopia regarding the use of a random orbital polisher. The article behind the link below is very informative on the whole process of polishing and waxing with a machine (PC)
Interestingly the article mentions that the PC polisher was originally made for use as a sander for working on wood.
"The Porter Cable (PC) 7424 started life more than a decade ago as a sander for woodworkers."
I guess the random orbitals for woodgrinding I found here in Germany could do the job. I will explore further.
This product is sold in the USA as well and is used by aut enthusiasts in the same way as PC7424.
It is called Makita BO 6040 and is reviewed under this link http://www.properautocare.com/matwomopo.html
Only drawback is the price at €375 or $468 at todays exchange rate.
Porter Cable unfortunately has no interest in marketing a modified version of their product over here. I asked.
But what the heck there are only 500-600 million people here in Europe (including Russia) using 230/50Hz.
I'm getting the Makita.
Americanpie thank's for the link to proper autocare.
