Hi folks,
Any body has information about Perma Plate? I have a 2005 SLK 350 and I am considering Perma late since I can see that the leather on Driver's seat is already showing wrinkles! The Perma Plate people claim they offer the best protection and even throw in a warranty.
BTW, if the wrinkles continue to grow :-( what shoul;d I do? It's only the middle portion of the seat and the rest of the car is new! Can that section be replaced/repaired?
Help please!
Thanks.

[}:)]Perma Plate is a rip off. It is merely a sealant that you can apply by yourself. For about $15 you can buy yourself a bottle of Merguiars NXT and get the same results.
As far as the wrinkles are concerned this is common in leather. It will stretch as the more it is used. Yes you can replace it; any good upholstery shop will do it but it is only going to happen again. Learn to love the patina of a leather seat.
Thanks for the comments, lkirchner.
Frankly, reviewing the complicated methods that some of the members in this forum are using to wash/wax/detail their cars freaked me out. I am also concerned that I might make a mistake and ruin the paint/leather. But I guess I just need to go ahead and do it: No guts no glory!
Any comments on how to do a basic detail? Well, my car is almost new so I don't need to worry about scratches and stuff. Just the maintanace and a shny look!
Cheers,
I think Perma Plate is really worth it, as it gives the guarantee to replace the parts/paint if they cannot fix it. I just got my Perma Plate done on my new 2006 ML350 and it really shows the difference.
Additionally, it gives peace of mind that if there are some scracthes or spills, it will be handled by Perma Plate or it will be fixed at their cost. With the baby, it is really worth it, IMo.
It also depends on how much did you pay for Perma Plate while buying the car from the dealer, I was able to get the complete Interior & Exterior for 695$. I think this is very good price and all the dealers were generally asking for 995$.
