HAHAH, after I detail mine we will compare. What do you use? And how do you do it? If you don’t mind sharing your secrets! Maybe we should make a new thread stating how Frank makes his cars look like glass.

I just got this baby! I hate days that are rainy!! I traded up from my c280. I hand wash this baby so far with the mercedes wash kit which worked wonders on my c280. I have been reading about the other products that have been mentioned and cant wait to get my hands on them to add even more beauty to my ride. My wife loves this car but she cant stop thinking about that scene in Ferris where Camron is kicking his dads car saying WHO DO YOU LOVE.. YOU LOVE A CAR! More as she gets the mods she deserves.
in poor lighting i still was able to get this 31 year old paint to shine like this:
I used a medium cut w/cutting pad on my circular buffer, followed by a polish using menzerna polish applied w/ 3" green foam pad on my porter cable orbital buffer, waxed w/menzerna FMJ, and then I applied the menzerna acrylic shield.
Thanks Roncor! Can't wait to see your newly restored 240D! Wow, it must be in show condition! And it must be 100% mechanically and cosmetically perfect! Whoa! [8D]
No. Wet sanding is actually re-surfacing your clear coat by actually taking say a 2000 grit wet sandpaper, scratching the clearcoat down to a uniform level, then to use a gritty compound w/ power buffer to polish all the 0000's of scratches out of the clearcoat then to buff w/ glazes/waxes until finishes clear looks showroom condition[:0].
Clay bar is simply a small bar of clay used w/ a spray detailer/soap and water spray to remove surface contaminents like tar, acid rain, tree sap, industrial fallout, airborne sea salts, etc. This is done prior to waxing to fully prepare the paints clearcoat to an even level to make wax more uniform and produce a smoother, more resilliant shine. do a search on both to further your interest. you may like the clay if you like to wax alot!
i admit a couple of these pics have graced the Detailing Forum before, but i personally had great results with Auto Glym Paint Renovator, followed by Super Resin Polish, followed by Extra Gloss Sealant.
i keep it shining with regular washes and applications of Super Resin Polish.
i'd gladly try Zaino if i could find it in the UK.
P21S is prohibitively expensive here, it would be cheaper to wash my car with Chanel No.5...
This is my baby it is a 1978 450sel and it still out purrs the cars on the highway. It is great to have this car and see it pass all those new cars at its age.
