Brake dust residue

When I bought my 300TE, the previous owner(s) had really let the brake dust build up on all four wheels.
Have managed to get 90 percent of the build-up out of the alloy wheel slots. And underneath all that "baked on grime" the wheels are in good shape.
Can anyone help me with a product that will shift that stubborn, last 10 percent?
Thanks.[8D]

RE: Brake dust residue

I have been using "Eagle 1" cleaner for alloy wheels. It recomends spraying on and waiting for 30 sec. before washing it off. It has been doing an acceptable job, but not perfect. Last time I used it I left it on for 2 min.,whee the wheels look like new, not a grain of black stuff. They have tire black stuff in a spray bottle, but I put it on with a small piece of sponge, gets my hands dirty but looks good.

have you seen those brake dust covers that go inside the rims ?

its suppose to keep off the dust altogether.

RE: Brake dust residue

Eagle One Is A Great Over The Counter Wheel Cleaner For Dirty Wheels. If residue remains, a good paint polish, or clay or paint cleaner should help the more stubborn areas.

I will recommend two BUT these are professional products so use them with caution, following the instructions. These are NOT hydroflouric acid cleaners but are very powerful cleaners for stubborn brake crud.

Happy detailing,
