I just clayed my SLK this weekend (Mothers kit: clay bar, showroom detail and then carnuba wax)It looks great! QUESTION: can I use the bar for a different car of a different color or is the rule one clay bar for each car?
Since the clay does not remove any of the painted finish, and moreover, since the car is most likely clearcoated, I do not see where the color of a car would determine the use of a clay bar on one or more vehicles.

COlor is irrevelant to the claybar, but its dirtiness is. If your bar is full of contaminants from the first car I would be careful about using it again. I personally cut my bars up so i only use as much bar as i need and have fresh for more areas of the car or other cars....
Its actually a bar of clay that is rubbed across the car to prep the surface before waxing. It removes surface contaminants and gives you a great surface to apply you wax onto
Depending on how much dirt is on your car, a clay bar can probably be used once or twice. I use it on both my cars with no problem. I use only as much I think I need, typically enought to hold on to, as you don't need much. Again this depends on how much the clay will pick up from the surface of your car.
After claying the cars, I use the clay bar on the rims then throw the clay away. For the price of the clay bar I don't see any sense in keeping it much more than this.
