Perma Coat is nothing more than a sealant that the daelers apply and charge you a fortune. You could use Meguires NXT, All in One Klasse, etc. The fact that they could buff it out should tell you something; it is not permanent it's only a sealant that you paid a small fortune for and were fed a line of bullshit from the dealer. The worst place to have a car detailed is at the dealer where they empopy people who have flunked out of hambuger flipping school at McDonalds. Spend $20 and do it yourself.
I also got water spots all over my brand new C230 and I do not know why and I wonder why am I the only one astonished by this? Everyone seems to accept it as if it is something completely normal, and it is not. It is a car. It is supposed to stay outside and on planet Earth it rains and then the Sun comes up, so if this ruins the looks of a car, it is a problem of the car, not mine. How is this a problem, for which I should pay, when I have done nothing wrong? It was a rainy season and now I should pay? Maybe it does not rain in Germany? [:(!]

[}:)]There is not a car made today with paint that will not water spot. If you think it is a problem with the car and you are upset, then ride a bike.
Us folks over on the R171 forum swear by the Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash Sytem. The car drys spot free because the filter removes the minerals etc. in the water. You don't even have to dry with a cloth...just let it air dry spot free.
I've worked at a lot of new dealerships, as one of the more experienced detailers I was charged with paint protections and buffing new cars if they needed it, where the panel shop experience really helped out (you couldn't tell they'd been touched by a buff, a neat little technique I learned).
Plus water damaged or imperfect new cars that managed to slip through quality control were handed to me for either saving or passing on to a paint shop.
I've worked for Holden, Honda, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan, Porsche and the prestige panel shop I worked for concentrated on Mercs, BMW's and Alfas, plus a smattering of all other imports.
Water damage can be polished out, clay-bar'd, buffed or "knocked off" with wet & dry as part of a professional cut & polish. Always go to a panel shop experienced in working with prestige imports for this, to get best results.
My opinion? Sometimes it's just easier to pay the $100.

I am so happy to have a Mercedes Benz C230, year 2005. I saw your messages about the water spots and as a woman, you know, I can not stand cosmetic imperfections. That is why I decided to keep my car away from rain and sun, into my garage and NEVER take it out. Well, honestly, I expected to drive it, but let's face it - the car is not for the road. Anyway I am happy to have my mercedes - yeah I can spend many happy hours in the cosy garage with Him.[:X]
Had this same problem from neighbors sprinkler... moved from seattle and never had un-washable water spots. Anyway, sollution from the dealer was to detail the car... tried an old fashon remedy and it worked perfectly... lots of elbow grease and some white vinigar.... then wash and wax. Had really bad bad bad bad water spots... now all gone! :)
