It depends on who you talk to. I wanted to use the Zaino Bros products but took a cheaper route by trying Meguiars NXT Generation wash and the wax. It worked great and I have no complaints. I've gotten nothing but compliments on the shine.

I know that I have tried almost every wax to be introduced to the market. I realize that I am anal but one thing that I have come to believe is that the appearance after a wax is truly in the eyes of the beholder and the amount of effort that goes into the finished job does have to be considered.

You will hear people who swear by Zaino-- great wax but expensive. Then you have Zymol-- good but way too expensive. All of the others have their goods and bads.

Recently I have been using Meguires NXT followed by Meguires #16. Easy to use, not time consuming and reasonably priced. What is missing is the snob appeal but who cares.

Basically all waxes are the same- they are wax. If you want an extreme test for wax put it on a boat that goes out every day. Guess what- wax does not last long. Try Nufinish- it's not wax. It beads water longer, holds shine better and protects like no wax can. Nufinish is just one of the automotive product- their are many marine products of various names. No one puts wax on their 2,3 and 4 million dollar yachts- and you shouldn't be using wax unless you intend to wax at least once a month. Here in south florida wax lasts about 2 weeks and then completely stops beading water and protecting. -and I've tried them all.

I used Meguiar's NXT on my new C230 sport, great results !! I was a diehard Zaino user but now prefer the ease of Meguiar's new stuff...[8D]

If it works for you, that's really what counts- as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

First off, you have to determine what you want to accomplish.

Do you want to do any surface cleaning to the paint?
Do you have spiderwebbing you want to remove?

If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then you will first want to consider a cleaner wax like Zymol, or a more aggressive surface treatment like Menzerna Final Finsh Polish to remove swirls.

If you have a decent paint surface and do not need cleaning or swirl removal then a good quality non-cleaner wax blend is best. Products like S100 or P21S waxes offer pure wax with little or no white powder redisue as there are no polishes in the wax.

Personally, I use Zymol, but for my weekly-biweekly waxings I normally use S100 (available at most Harley shops).

best waxes hands down are the Mothers California Gold family of waxes. i normally wash and wax my car at least once a week (i apply the Mothers once every couple of weeks and use Turtle wax in between). as far as boating waxes are concerned well you dont wanna put that crap on your car...it was made to be applied to a boat which is either fiberglass or wood (or in the case of a ship specially treated and painted metal so it doesnt use wax same with those huge 300 foot yachts). best to just put some work into it and take regular care or your car.

...well you dont wanna put that crap on your car.-

I'm glad you know so much about protection on yacht's exteriors and how polymer technology used on gelcoat is not suitable for your automotive finish. You failed to notice I did not advocate putting marine WAX on your car, but protection that is NOT wax. BTW- 4 million dollar yachts are about 60-90 feet, and ships are another matter altogether. You might also consider that someone who owns a yacht of these sizes might also have a mercedes, or two, or 10, and know a bit about keeping them in top shape.
I dont mean to insult, but your statement above deserves a response.

If your looking for a pure wax, S100 which can be purchased at harley stores is excellent, its the cycle equivalent of p21s. Mothers CG pure wax is good, the non-cleaner one. Meguairs #26 is a good one, meguairs new NXT is available most places and is pretty good for a locally available wax.

I would never use NuFinish on my car. Ack, way too nasty for me.

It Dusts like crazy, Stains black trim, Contains abrasive and, has a High solvent content (aids cleaning power).
