Ok this question is for ByeByeAmericanPie. What's the beef with armor all? I'm not being sarcastic here by the way. I'm asking out of ignorance. I've never heard anything negative about it. You mention it's silicone base. Is that the root of eveil here? Please inform.
As far as tipping. My advice is tip them and tip them well. They'll remember you the next time you bring your car in. They'll also remember you if you didn't tip. My tipping philosophy is simple. The less inclined I am to do the job you're doing for me, the more I will tip you. Bathroom attendants do well when I'm around.

Most vinyl "protectants", including ArmorAll contain silicone oils, petroleum distillates or other agents which damage vinyl and which vinyl manufacturers recommend AGAINST!
Virtually all vinyl manufacturers agree that no type of oil should be used on vinyl. Silicone oil vinyl treatments should not be used for several reasons;
1) Silicone oil formulations typically attack the vinyl topcoat,
2) Silicone oil formulations usually contain no effective UV screening ingredients,
3) Silicone oil formulations are build-up products which accelerate heat damage,
4) Silicone oil formulations are greasy and oily, attract dust, and soil more quickly. READ THE LABEL! Product directions suggesting more than one coat for better cosmetic enhancement are build-up products and are recommended against by vinyl manufacturers.
Personally I would only use products similar to 303 Aerospace Protectant as this contains no silicones, has UV stabilizers added and has specific compounds to strengthen the plactic topcoat of the PVC vinyl.
I hope this helps!

Hmmm, the bathroom attendants I've come across simply hand me a towel. A job I have no problem with. I curious what bathroom attendants Florida do for you? Are these bikini attendants?

Of course they wear bikini's. Making them stand there naked would be barbaric! Although the tips would be greater....
Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but have been reading a little about what dressings to use, etc and have to add a few things. While I use Vinylex, it's not because it doesn't contain silicone, because it does! It's just not as slick as Armor All and doesn't get that greasy feeling. This may be because of less silicone, or other additives.
Anyway, before everyone starts the anticpated silicone/no silicone arguements, suggest you go to the Material Data Safety Sheet for Vinylex. The address is:

I know this may add additional confusion about the silicone vs no silicone debate, but thought everyone would want to know the truth about the products mentioned. That being said, I think Vinylex is great and would highly recommend it.
Hey, just got the cable (thus internet) after Hurricane Frances! My point was that some people were under the impression that Vinylex did not contain silicone and I just wanted to point out that it in fact does contain silicone. No brainer.
