A service?

[?] What is this A service and b service I hear guys talking about. I can't seem to find it in my manual, or I just don't recognise it?

I have a 1998 SLK 230 and the "Owner Manual" does not talk about the A service and the B service, but the "Service Booklet" does, basically the the booklet list what should be done for the A service and the B service, like replace brake fluid, change spark plugs and etc. the B service is done when the car has gotten to a major mileage point like 60,000 miles, then other things are changed or checked, then you go back to the A service until you get to another major mileage point like 120,000 miles, then it is the B service and etc. If you do not have a Service Booklet, check with your MB dealer for a replacement.

The A and B services are the alternating minimum service and maintenance requirements on the FFS countdown. Besides an oil and filter change, its inspecting and topping off fluids.

You don't have to wait for the computer to tell you to go in for service, because MB policy is now one year or 10k miles between the free work.
