BJ, what do you think of using.........

a chamois to dry with? I have been using them for years and find they do a nice streak and smudge free job.

Chamois

Chamois are a OK thing to dry your car with. I dont like them, They dry hard, are smelly, and dont easily get into crackas and crevices.
I use a big blue drying towel from Classic Motoring Accesories or A Micro Fiber Drying Towel from Griots Garage. I think that they are the best towels for drying...bar none. I can dry my whole ML with one towel after sheat beading the car.
If you dont know what sheet beading is, its when your done washing, you take off your hose nozzle and start at the top of each panel and "feed" the sheet as it goes down. This practice leaves my car almost dry before drying.
I would reccomend both of the towels equally, I find that they both work exceptionally well. I do feel like the Griots Garage version is a little more "substantial" and has pockets for your hands while you dry.

A chamois is not acceptable to dry your car except for the glass. Unlike microfiber or terry towels, a chamois cannot trap and hold abrasive particles between fibers. Any particles between a chamois and the paint will be dragged across the paint causing scratches.

Thats the same argument you can have everyday over the Use Of The California Water Blade. If you wash your car to 100% clean then technically, there shouldnt be any abrasive particles to drag across the paint.
But nonetheless, Im with Lynn, I want the safest device available for use on my car. Im just not interested in taking chances! No chamois' or CWB's for me!

I am a skeptic no more..........

The big blue drying towel was amazing. I dried my whole ML and it was hardly damp. Where does the water go? It did not leave any towel fibers and left the surface smooth as a you know what. Thanks BJ.
